5 Easy Dorm Recipes for Collegiettes On-the-Go

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

As the semester kicks into gear, so do our schedules and our time dedicated to food prep seems to disappear. With more and more work piling up, we all tend to lose the motivation to wake up early and make food for ourselves. A lack of time doesn’t mean you have to resort to eating unhealthy food. These recipes can all be brought with you to classes, study sessions, and wherever else your busy days take you. Skip the campus crowds and make these recipes in the comfort of your own room and enjoy having delicious, healthy foods to snack on throughout your day.

1. Overnight Oats

This is the perfect recipe for those pesky early morning classes. You can just stick the ingredients in the fridge the night before and wake up to a delicious breakfast. Throw it in a mason jar and you’ve got the perfect food to take along with you to class or even just to eat on the walk over. The best part of this recipe is that you can customize it with all of your favorite fruits and toppings!

2. Egg Muffins

Bite-sized, packed with nutrients, and oh-so-delicious.  These egg muffins are everything you could want from an on-the-go recipe. Cook some on the weekend and keep them in your mini fridge to heat up in the morning for a quick meal. Their small size also makes them perfect to pack in your bag for an afternoon snack!

3. Mason Jar Salad

This recipe is great for those days when you know you’ll need to grab a quick lunch but don’t want to eat campus food. The best part is that it doesn’t require any cooking on your part. Just throw your favorite salad ingredients in a cute mason jar and you’ve got an easy lunch that you can look forward to while you’re sitting through those morning lectures!

4. Granola Bites

Granola bites are an awesome small snack to grab in between classes, and you can make them without even stepping near an oven! Make them the night before and pack them in your backpack for a yummy snack to grab while running from one side of campus to the other. You can throw some chocolate chips in there too for a snack that’s filling and sweet!

5. Apple Chips

Last on the list are these apple chips, a great on-the-go recipe for fall weather. You can even use some of the apples that you may have left over from a day of apple picking! Slice them up, toss with some cinnamon, and pop these in the oven for a bit. You can pack these for classes or bring them with you to study for your big tests this semester.
