I absolutely love baking but have since realized that I should probably pay a little more attention to how much sugar I am eating… I have then come to the realization that “healthy” baking is very much a thing that exists! Here are some of my favorite ~healthy~ recipes:
-
Protein Pancakes I make myself some protein pancakes every morning. I have made different combinations and it depends on how you like your pancakes (more fluffy or flat or small or big). Just mixing protein powder and water actually works surprisingly well. You can also add an egg or two to add even more protein! I also really love Greek Yogurt Pancakes and can highly recommend this recipe: https://www.justataste.com/fluffy-greek-yogurt-pancakes-recipe/
-
Banana pancakes Simply mixing a banana and two eggs makes for some surprisingly good pancakes!
-
Every single recipe from: https://amyshealthybaking.com I could now list all my favorite recipes by her, but I actually loved every single one of her recipes I have tried so far.
-
Get yourself some white whole wheat flour It has tons of benefits and is a healthier alternative of white flour (https://cleancuisine.com/what-is-white-whole-wheat-flour-is-it-healthy/). In most recipes, you can replace all-purpose flour 1:1, but you can always start out with ½ white flour and ½ white whole wheat flour and see how much it changes the texture.
-
Buy coconut sugar It is clearly still sugar and thus it is not completely healthy, but it is still healthier than regular sugar. You can replace some of the sugar in a normal recipe with coconut sugar, which has a caramell-y flavor to it.
-
Try sweeteners
There are many different kinds of sweeteners out there. Stevia is probably the most popular one, but “Xylitol” is another alternative. In most recipes, you can replace at least half of the white sugar called for with a sweetener to cut back on calories.
Now let’s get on baking! I hope you find some great recipes that you can try.
