It’s an unfortunate reality that a lot of us deal with anxiety. Music is a wonderful tool to help soothe yourself when tensions get high, so here’s a list of music that might help!

Featherstone by The Paper Kites

A gentle song with an upbeat song and soothing singer, it features lyrics like,

And we’ll hate what we’ve lost but we’ll love what we find

And I’m feeling fine, we’ve made it to the coastline.

It’s a perfect background song for when you’re getting ready in the morning and will get you prepped for the day by putting a pep in your step.

Anna Sun by Walk the Moon

If you want an upbeat song to bring a little light in a time of anxiety, this is the one. According to the lead singer, Nicholas Petricca, this song is about college and keeping your inner kid alive, which I’m sure relates to a lot of those who may be reading this.

We got no money but we got heart,

We’re gonna rattle this ghost town,

This house is falling apart.

Sovereign Light Café by Keane

If your anxiety is making you miss home, miss friends, miss a place, take a listen to this song. It’s nostalgic but has a bright tone that gives a perfect bittersweet, calming tune.

I’m going back to the time when we owned this town,

Down Powder Mill Lane, in the battlegrounds,

We were friends and lovers and clueless clowns.

High Hopes by Kodaline

But I’ve got high hopes,

It takes me back to when we started,

High hopes,

When you let it go, go out and start again.

Need a song with a little motivation in it? That’s something that I personally look for when I’m feeling anxious. Kodaline features a lovely, indie-rock melody that’ll make you feel like you’ve got this—and you do!

I Know by Tom Odell

Okay, I’ll admit; Tom Odell’s voice is perfection to me, so that’s half of the reason that I put this song on the list. For me, a lead singer with a strong voice helps me feel secure and focused on something else other than anxious thoughts. The classic love song features beautiful lyrics such as,

Oh won’t you bring me all the things I need,

I follow the rain to the roaring sea,

Oh won’t you bring me all the things I need.

Music is a helpful tool for anxiety. However, the most important thing is to get help! Music is a crutch, but remember; mental health is a wound that may need a little help from professionals to heal!
