Perhaps you’ve seen a headline or two from time to time about the youth protesting climate change in some European countries. The Youth Climate Strike, which began with Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg protesting in front of Swedish government buildings, has grown tremendously to include hundreds of thousands of participants in multiple countries. The movement has mostly consisted of school walkouts in European countries…until now.

On March 15, there will be a widespread strike in dozens countries, including the US. Tens of thousands of young people in over 30 states will walk out of school to demand action against global warming. Like the youth-organized March for Our Lives, which sprang from frustration over government inaction against the gun violence epidemic in the US, the Youth Climate Strike will also protest government inaction, this time in response to the foreseen dangers of global warming, which has been proven by scientists to be resulting from harmful practices and disregard for the environment.
