I know what everyone’s thinking right now: “Do I have to wear pants when I am on Zoom?”
The answer to your question is either yes or no. It all depends on you and your comfortability. Personally, I am highly terrified of standing up in the middle of class with no pants on and everyone seeing me in my underwear. I have had this nightmare for the past couple of nights now. So what is acceptable to wear on zoom?
First, we have those who like to actually get dressed for virtual class. I am them. I found that for me to not only be comfortable, but productive as well, I have to be fully dressed. I am able to focus and concentrate as if I am in person. My outfits are not super dressy, although I have seen my fair share of super dressy people. My outfits include the basics: a top and bottom. I am currently on a tank top and shorts trend right now, and if everyone is lucky I may even throw on a pullover. However when Fall hits, I will be in a sweatshirt or pullover every single day.
Second, we have what I like to call the “I just woke up” gang. This group consists of people who literally just woke up, rolled out of bed, and got on Zoom. I have a profound appreciation for this group of people because I cannot bring myself to do that at all. I need at least an hour to myself before classes in the morning, sometimes two. The clothing of this group tends to range from actual pjs to just messy hair and a T-shirt. Mind you, it is very rare to spot a member of this group because they are laid up in bed with their cameras off, however I have seen it on multiple occasions.
Last but not least, we have the “no pants gang.” It would be hypocritical of me to say I have not tried it on several occasions, but I have. It is probably the most comfortable way to sit through a three hour long Zoom session in my opinion, but every time I think about the nightmare I turn off my camera and put on shorts. This group of people are incredibly bold. You would never even know they did not have pants on and they are probably smart enough to turn off their camera if they need to get something. My brain just does not think like that. I would just like to take a moment to give a big shout out to the “No Pants” gang.
In other words, as long as you are showing up to your Zoom classes with some type of clothing, it doesn’t really matter what you wear. Make sure you are cozy and listening and you are all good. Have a great semester at Zoom University collegiettes!
