5 Ways to Get Springtime Serotonin During a COVID Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

Spring is finally upon us! Well, the temperature has only exceeded 50 degrees, but it’s still a promising sign! As I’ve walked around campus this week, I noticed students taking advantage of the higher temperatures by meeting friends to sit and study outdoors. The warmth has definitely been a welcomed opportunity to get out of the dorm and into the sunshine. With the clocks setting forward in just a few days, the best of spring is still to come! Below are some tips on soaking in that springtime serotonin on campus during a COVID semester.

Grab a picnic blanket, some snacks, and good company

There’s nothing quite like laying out on a big picnic blanket surrounded by friends and good snacks. Since it can be challenging to see friends indoors during the pandemic, going for picnics can be a great way to socialize and get some sun.

Tree Hammock + a good book = total bliss

I have to admit, I’m always so jealous when I see people laying in one of those portable tree hammocks. If you have time for some pleasure reading, definitely invest in one of those and set up in a cozy outdoor spot.

Utilize outdoor study spots

If you’ve been stuck in your dorm or the library, take your books to an outdoor table. Fresh air and sunshine are a great cure to school stress!

Go for a walk

It can get pretty stuffy staying indoors all the time. With the worst of winter behind us, going for walks can be a nice way to stay active and socialize with friends!

Watch the sunset

My absolute favorite part about the spring is the longer days. The longer the day means the more time you have to clear your schedule for watching sunsets! What’s more relaxing than seeing beautiful orange skies on your beloved college campus?

Going to college during a global pandemic most definitely has its challenges, but with spring upon us there are plenty of opportunities to get outside, see friends, and soak in some serotonin!
