For most, a Monday is a rude awakening to the reality of life. On the flip side, many like myself use Mondays as a total reset. Sometimes, Mondays are the Sunday reset you need, and there is nothing wrong with that. The “reset” in question is only a reset if it’s on your own time. An integral part of your “reset” is picking the time that works best for you; When you can finally handle all the things you put on your plate. Being a college student, there are so many things you need to balance; School, friends, work, family, etc. It is extremely vital to keep up with these responsibilities, but it doesn’t mean we always can all at once. So maybe give yourself a break, take Sunday for your wants and Monday for your needs.
Fresh starting Mondays are a great time to get all your laundry done, clean your room, and put everything away from the weekend before. When makeup and tops are in disarray scattered around your room, it can be difficult to concentrate on your current tasks at hand. A clean space = clean mind.
I think Mondays are great days to wash your bed. It provides you with a fresh start to the week, as well as a week of clean comfort. Piggybacking off of that, handling all the laundry you’ve accumulated over the weekend is a great way to help yourself for the week ahead. Quite frankly, I believe you should keep up with your laundry more often than once a week, yet for the purpose of Mondays, it’s a great day to start.
Pro tip: Wash your pillowcases often, consider throwing them in with a smaller load of laundry!
The beginning of the week is also a great time to reset the house, not strictly your personal space. This means doing the dishes and cleaning out the fridge. Give that Stanley cup a decent scrub. Also, vacuuming or sweeping and swiffering the place as well. Make sure to wipe down surfaces and pick up any miscellaneous items no matter where they are in the house. If you practice even at least some of these every Monday, your whole week will feel less cluttered.
In a similar vein, consider glamorizing your space once it’s all tidied up. Light a cozy candle or flip on your diffuser. Maybe even rearrange a couple things, like furniture for example, to freshen up your space. In addition, it’s always fun to buy new decorations, especially when they’re seasonal. That said, you don’t need to spend a dime to have a cute decoration. There are a million and one cute crafts online that can easily be done with no new materials.
Mondays are a wonderful time to set yourself up for the week, meal wise. Meal prepping can be essential for a great week of eating better with low effort. Consider making some ground beef or chicken. These items can be versatilely used, mixed and matched with a whole lot. Rice is another thing that can easily be prepped to pair things with throughout the week. Not only can you eat it while and soon after it is fresh, but you can also use it after its prime for things like fried rice.
Pro tip: Make sure to freeze your meat and vegetables before they go bad!
The beginning of the week does not always have to feel as overwhelming as it tends to seem. With assignments piling up and more being released, managing your schedule and time can seem strenuous. A simple reset in the beginning of the week can work wonders for how the rest plays out. It is important to keep up with little things in life as to not put too much weight on your shoulders. If we don’t take time to reset, we may just regress.
