Romanticizing this city one date at a time as I uncover hidden gems, cozy corners, and unforgettable adventures throughout Tallahassee. From daytime adventures to spontaneous nights out, this is about finding the little moments that make each date worth remembering and the city worth falling in love with.

If you’re looking for a date that feels a little more special than grabbing dinner and calling it a night, it might be time to get outside. About 40 minutes from campus, Moccasin Grove offers the perfect fall escape for couples looking to spend a few hours doing something different.

With flowers to pick, pumpkins to search for, apple cider to sip, and plenty of opportunities for cute pictures, this family-owned farm makes for a date that’s as much about the experience as it’s about the person you’re sharing it with.

Start With a Little Adventure

My partner and I decided to head to Moccasin Grove right when it opened, and the timing couldn’t have been better. The weather was cool, making it the perfect morning to walk around the farm without worrying about the Florida heat. As soon as we arrived, it felt like we’d stepped into our own little fall day trip.

Families explored the farm, kids picked pumpkins, and people wandered through the flower fields. One of the best things about Moccasin Grove is that it’s a U-Pick farm, so you aren’t just walking around looking at everything; you actually get to participate! For a date, that makes all the difference.

Pick Your Own Bouquet

Our first stop was the flowers, of course! Moccasin Grove has fields of colorful zinnias and sunflowers available for you to pick. Yes, picking flowers with your partner might not sound like the most adventurous date activity, but that’s exactly what made it so cute.

Instead of simply buying a bouquet from a store, we got to walk through the flowers together, pick our favorites, and create our own arrangement. There’s something especially romantic about saying, “We picked these ourselves.” It also gives you an excuse to slow down and truly enjoy being together. We weren’t worried about where we had to go next or about trying to fit a million things into the day. We simply walked around, picked flowers, and enjoyed the morning.

Pro tip: Bring your own vase! The farm asks visitors to bring their own vase for the flower-picking experience because it’s only $15 to fill it. You can get a big bouquet for a great deal, so I highly recommend bringing your own big vase.

Find the Perfect Pumpkin

Of course, no trip to a fall pumpkin patch would be complete without picking a pumpkin. At Moccasin Grove, you can pick pumpkins directly from the vine, with prices varying based on size. They have all sizes, from big carvable pumpkins to small decorative ones. Walking through the patch and searching for one you like becomes its own little activity.

You can make it competitive and see who finds the best pumpkin, or take your time and search for one you both love. Either way, it’s another part of the date when you get to do something together instead of just sitting across from each other. If you love seasonal decor, you can take a little piece of the date home with you.

Don’t Forget the Light Refreshments

While we were exploring the farm, I also tried the cold apple cider, and it was so good. They also had sodas, lemonade, and water for sale, but I highly recommend the apple cider. It was the perfect drink for walking around and somehow made the whole experience feel even more like fall. With the pumpkins, flowers, and cooler weather, the apple cider was the finishing touch.

The little market also sold popcorn and pumpkin bread, which I need to go back and try. Sometimes the smallest parts of a date become your favorite memories.

Leave Room for Photos

If you and your significant other are always looking for an excuse to take pictures together, Moccasin Grove offers plenty of reasons. The farm provides personal photo opportunities, and between the flower fields and the pumpkin patch, there are plenty of natural backdrops.

Whether you’re taking intentional couple photos or just capturing candid moments, the farm lets you document the day without feeling like you’re posing in front of a staged backdrop. Let’s be honest: a fall date isn’t complete without at least one cute picture to remember it by.

Make a Morning Out of It

Moccasin Grove also features a corn maze, so you’ll have more to do after you’ve picked your flowers and pumpkins. This is one of those dates when you don’t need to plan every minute. You can arrive, explore, and decide what to do as you go. For me, that was part of the fun. We could wander around, stop when something caught our attention, and enjoy being outside together.

Why It Belongs on Your Bucket List

What made Moccasin Grove stand out to me was how simple the date was. It wasn’t about dressing up for a fancy dinner or spending a ton of money on an elaborate activity. It was about finding a new place, getting outside, and sharing something fun. It was also lovely seeing families enjoying the farm.

Watching parents and kids pick flowers and pumpkins together was really sweet. It gave the farm a warm, welcoming feel and made the experience feel like more than just a place to take pictures. For a couple in Tallahassee, especially college students looking to get off campus for a few hours, it’s a nice change of scenery.

Sometimes romanticizing your life doesn’t have to mean doing something extravagant. It can mean driving 40 minutes off campus, walking through a field of flowers with someone you love, laughing over which pumpkin to pick, and ending the morning with a cold cup of apple cider.

Is This Bucket List Worthy?

Yes, it totally is! If you’re looking for a date that feels seasonal, personal, and just a little romantic, put Moccasin Grove on your Tallahassee bucket list. At the end of the day, you get to go home with a bouquet and a pumpkin to remind you of this date, because sometimes the best dates aren’t about where you go; they’re about what you get to experience together.
