Harry Jowsey is back. And this time, he wants a wife.
If you have watched any Netflix dating reality show, chances are you already know Harry. The Australian reality star to international fame after appearing on Too Hot to Handle, where his relationship with Francesca Farago quickly became one of the season’s most talked-about romances. He later returned to Netflix for Perfect Match, establishing himself as one of the platform’s most recognizable and controversial reality stars.
Now, after years of building his public image around dating, relationships and drama, Harry has decided that maybe it is finally time to settle down.
What’s ‘Let’s Marry Harry’?
The new Netflix reality show, which premiered on August 5, brings 20 women into a luxury mansion with one very specific goal: to win Harry over and become his wife. But there is a twist. This time, Harry is not completely in control of the eliminations.
His best friend Amanda Kloots, his ex-girlfriend Georgia Hassarati and his close friend Sonny Henty will help Harry decide who stays in the competition and who goes home.
Because, apparently, after years of making questionable romantic decisions in front of the cameras, Harry needs a committee to help him choose a wife.
From reality TV heartthrob to future husband?
Harry’s public image makes the premise of the show, at the very least, questionable.
He built his career around flirting, relationships and romantic drama. So when he claims he is ready for a serious commitment, one question immediately comes to mind: Does Harry actually want to get married, or is this simply another chapter in his reality TV career?
According to the show, his motivation is more personal. Harry talks about wanting to build a family and how the death of his father changed the way he sees his future. His search for a wife is therefore presented as part of a new chapter in his life.
But convincing the audience that he has really changed is another story. Throughout the season, Harry continues to find himself in situations that resemble the behavior that made him famous in the first place. And with 20 women competing for his attention, there is certainly no shortage of drama.
Who are the women competing for Harry?
The contestants range from 23 to 33 years old and arrive with different personalities, expectations and stories. And, in a rather curious choice by the production, they are all given engagement rings.
Among the women who stood out throughout the season are Amber Mozo, Juliana Melchoir, Dannelle Davidson, Sam Kruse, Faith Love Gonzalez and Sammy Gotay.
Amber Mozo quickly became one of the competition’s central figures. A travel photographer from Hawaii, she developed a relationship with Harry that started more slowly but eventually became one of the most important connections of the season.
Dannelle Davidson, meanwhile, emerged as one of the frontrunners from the beginning. At 33, the bartender and nurse from Las Vegas developed a strong connection with Harry and even received a secret engagement ring from him during the competition.
Sam Kruse, on the other hand, had a very different journey. After developing feelings for Harry, she decided to leave the competition after questioning his honesty about his relationship with Amber.
The other contestants also became part of the friendships, rivalries, eliminations and twists that come with the formula of dating reality shows.
The finale: Amber or Dannelle?
After eight episodes, 20 contestants became two. Harry’s final decision came down to Amber Mozo and Dannelle Davidson, two women who had very different relationships with him throughout the season.
Dannelle had been one of the favorites since the early episodes. While Amber, meanwhile, represented a slower-burn romance. In the end, Harry decided that his connection with Amber was the one he wanted to pursue.
And then the wedding came.
Harry and Amber walked down the aisle in the final episode, with Amanda Kloots officiating the ceremony. Harry became emotional during his vows and even wore his late father’s glasses while talking about his relationship with Amber and how she helped him become more open and vulnerable.
Harry also said that Amber’s “free spirit” and the way she was able to see him beyond his public image were among the reasons he chose her. He also connected their relationship to the memory of his father, mentioning that he noticed bees as a symbol associated with his father around Amber during their time together.
For a show that began with 20 women competing for the attention of one of reality TV’s biggest heartthrobs, the finale was surprisingly emotional.
But there is one detail.
So, are they actually married?
This is where things get a little more complicated.
Although Harry and Amber exchanged vows in front of the cameras, questions were raised about the legal status of the ceremony. According to Entertainment Weekly, the wedding shown on the show was not initially considered legally binding, as the production had reportedly delayed the paperwork to prevent the result from being spoiled before the finale.
Harry later addressed the speculation, saying that the documents had been signed but were being held by the production until the cast reunion. According to Harry, the paperwork was intentionally withheld so that public records would not reveal the winner before the finale aired.
However, the story does not have a traditional happily-ever-after.
Despite choosing Amber and exchanging vows on the show, reports have suggested that Harry and Amber may no longer be together after filming. Neither has publicly confirmed the status of their relationship, and the upcoming reunion on August 26 is expected to provide more answers.
For now, the question of whether Harry and Amber are actually married, and whether they are still together, remains unanswered. The truth may finally come to light on August 26, when the cast reunites for the show’s reunion episode. Until then, all we can do is wait and see whether Let’s Marry Harry really ended with a marriage, or just another reality TV romance.
