On Saturday, Aug. 15, model, influencer, and entrepreneur Jordyn Woods and New York Knicks player Karl-Anthony Towns tied the knot at a private oceanfront estate in Malibu, California, overlooking the Pacific. Among the star-studded guest list was a seemingly unexpected face: award-winning actor and comedian Ben Stiller. Instantly, the internet was confused as to why Ben Stiller was at Jordyn Woods’s wedding — but the actor’s appearance isn’t as random as it may seem at first glance.
But first, some context: After six years of dating, Woods and Towns got engaged on Christmas Day 2025 after Towns proposed on the rooftop of Overstory in New York City. The couple shared their engagement in a joint Instagram post, featuring pictures of them smiling happily with the stunning Financial District skyline behind them. Woods flashed her engagement ring, which is reportedly a 10+ carat emerald cut designed by New York-based designer Bernard James.
After the wedding went viral on social media, fans were quick to clock Stiller in the crowd — and, of course, wonder why he was there. But, as it turns out, the lore between him and the couple goes pretty deep. So, if you were wondering, here’s the breakdown on how Stiller got the invite, as well as the other celebs who were in attendance.
ICYMI, Stiller is a New York City native and a die-hard fan of the team Towns plays for, the New York Knicks. Stiller’s dedication to the Knicks dates back to the early 1970s. He attended games with his late father, Jerry Stiller, and even watched the team win championships in both 1970 and 1973.
Stiller made headlines during the 2026 NBA season, eventually watching the Knicks win their first NBA Championship since 1973. Along with Jordyn Woods’ lucky bag (obviously), Stiller was also said to be one of the team’s “lucky charms,” as he sat front and center at almost every game.
Stiller went viral across social media for his animated reactions, courtside iPhone action shot filming, and his very own social media posts. He made frequent posts on his X account, regularly sharing live reactions and celebratory declarations.
And then, of course, there’s the fact that Stiller is set to direct a Knicks documentary in partnership with HBO and A24. With no release date quite yet, the documentary is reported to be a multipart series that will explore a big-picture perspective of the Knicks as an organization. Talk about a die-hard fan.
Though Stiller is a fan of Towns, he also knows him (and Woods) on a personal level as well. A day after the championship win, Stiller interviewed Towns for Interview Magazine, discussing Knicks history, the 2026 win, and his now-wife, Jordyn. So, while Stiller may have initially looked like an unexpected invite on the guest list, his presence makes perfect sense. After spending the season loyally supporting Towns and his team, the actor was there to celebrate one of the team’s biggest stars in a more personal setting.
Who attended Jordyn Woods and Karl-Anthony Towns’s wedding?
In addition to Stiller and his wife Christine Taylor, other guests in attendance included Woods’ family friends Jada Pinkett Smith and her children Willow and Jaden Smith, as well as Gayle King, Tracy Morgan, Michael B. Jordan, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, and Justine Skye. NBA stars and Towns’ teammates were present, including Jalen Brunson and Andre Drummond. Love Island stars Olandria Carthen, Nic Vansteenberghe, Leah Kateb, and Miguel Harichi were also present.
The championship trophy also made an appearance! It was displayed in many pictures shared by Vogue at their afterparty. Additionally, guests received personalized favors including “Married in 5” hoodies, in honor of Towns’ championship win, which I’m sure Ben Stiller appreciated. Another playful detail included napkins that read, “Out of the Woods into the Towns,” a fun play on the couple’s names. I mean, c’mon!
Woods wore a stunning Italian silk dress made by New York-based designer Danielle Frankel. She documented her final dress fitting with Vogue, describing the dress as complementing her melanin “perfectly.” (Agreed!) Towns wore Ralph Lauren, a designer he knew from the start would dress him on his wedding day. The made-to-measure Purple Label tuxedo was created from Italian wool and finished with satin lapels.
I guess my invitation got lost in the mail…
