This year’s Fourth of July is going to be a little different. Yes, there are still going to be fireworks, sparklers, barbeques, and massive stacks of red, white, and blue decorations on the front table of every grocery store, but this year, it’s not just Independence Day we are celebrating. The year 2026 marks the United States’ 250th year of independence; effectively, it’s her big 2-5-0 birthday. So, to make your celebration this July a little more significant, but why not invest in something with a bit more longevity? And by invest, I do only mean $5, because that’s the cost of the 2026 iteration of Old Navy’s iconic American flag graphic T-shirt.

The Old Navy flag shirt is as recognizable as the name “Old Navy” itself. Launched in 1994 — the same year Old Navy was founded — this classic tee has become a staple in so many ’90s kids’ closets (and maybe even modern-day storage closets). It’s more than just a shirt: It’s a collector’s item, a time capsule, and an easy way to add a bit of holiday spirit to a pair of shorts and sneakers. So, needless to say, it doesn’t matter what age or gender you are; if it’s a cute top, it’s a cute top.

The 2026 women’s variation comes in a vibrant red, a bright white (this one in particular is one of Paris Hilton’s picks!), and a stony grey with your choice of fit: regular, tall, and petite. The 2026 flag shirt design is totally classic, with an image of the American flag flapping in the wind as the focal point, with text reading “Celebrating 250 Years” on top, a large “Old Navy” written below the flag, and the phrase “American Tradition” in smaller print underneath.

Crew-Neck Flag Graphic T-Shirt ($5)

This short-sleeve rib-knit crew neck comes in gray, white, and red in the women’s sizes. It also comes in gray, black, and red in the men’s sizes.

Oh, and, of course, the year is prominent on the T-shirt, so that everyone can see you were able to get your hands on this highly coveted item. But you better act fast, because these shirts are already flying off the shelves and selling out online.

If you miss your shot (or you’re just not much of a T-shirt gal), Old Navy still has you covered with plenty of other Fourth of July options, such as a long-sleeve flag sweater or pullover for chilly summer nights, simple tanks to round out your wardrobe, or a new gingham V-neck that’s even more eye-catching than the fireworks.
