So, you got your period for the first time and you’re freaking out?

Are you one of those girls who thinks they are literally dying when they accidentally get it in a random place? Don’t worry and don’t freak out, it’s just your period and a sign of womanhood!

You must have a lot of questions… but here are 3 MUST-do’s to make sure your time of the month runs as smoothly as possible!

  1. Showering morning and night is a MUST.

Ok girls, listen, I know everyone has opinions on whether it’s better to shower in the morning or at night … but I’m telling you, do BOTH (especially during your time of the month). With everything that’s going on down there, it’s more likely not to smell the greatest throughout the day, so showering in the morning boosts your energy and manages hygiene. Showering at night is good for relieving those nasty cramps and improving sleep quality. Remember to ALWAYS use unscented soap to avoid any infection down there, because going to the doctor for that would be … kinda awkward.

2. Always carry Advil tablets with you

For someone who is always cramping but still needs to get stuff done, this is a LIFESAVER. I take two tablets every morning during my time, and it lasts up to at least 6 hours for me before the pain hits again. I advise you to take the tablets with some food and water to prevent an upset stomach. I usually take Advil in the morning, late afternoon, and before I go to sleep!

3. WEAR PERIOD UNDERWEAR.

I literally CANNOT stress this enough to girls who are new to periods, but getting a good few pairs of period underwear is a game-changer. Period underwear is basically underwear that replaces tampons or pads. There is a soft cushion that absorbs all the blood during your cycle and can be worn up to 12 hours before washing. They feel like regular underwear, are eco-friendly, and feature antimicrobial materials to minimize odor.

Your time of the month is an amazing experience that all women go through, so don’t worry, you’re not alone! Periods do feel a little weird at first, and I totally get it, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help each other out while we can. This is just the beginning of peak girlhood!
