Each season brings its own fashion trends, and this February was no exception. From Valentine’s Day palettes to pattern variation, recent fashion trends have held some of my classic favorites, and I’m going to share some of the trends I find the cutest this season.
- Sweaters & Loafers

This timeless combination is a classic. Something about the contrast between a fuzzy sweater or cardigan and shiny leather loafers is so interesting. There are so many different routes you can go with this idea.
I love the idea of playing with colors and patterns, as well as adding pearls or white-gold jewelry. Living in Tallahassee this winter, I’ve had to get used to being colder than usual. This outfit was in rotation in my own closet, minus the loafers, so it’s number one!
- Layers

This one’s a little bit different, and more of a concept rather than an idea itself, but a fashion trend that’s been making its own comeback this season is layering. It’s such an easy way to elevate an outfit that feels a little basic or boring on its own.
The possibilities are endless. Some of the ideas I love are collared shirts under sweaters, tights underneath skirts, or a cardigan draped over your shoulders. All these looks have that same timeless sense of style and are so helpful when navigating the winter months.
- Mini Skirt & Boots

Hands down, this trend is my favorite! I’m a bit biased because I love how much taller boots can make me, but there’s something about the combination of a tiny skirt with tall boots that’s so elegant on women. There are many different ways to approach this.
Personally, I love a good leather boot. Whether the boots are tan, brown, or black, when paired with a matching skirt and a sweater, blazer, or a fitted long sleeve, there’s absolutely no way it can be done wrong. This classic combination has followed the girls from fall fashion to now, and I predict it’ll continue to take on new forms throughout the year, so keep an eye out!
- Matching Sets

Another classic is the art of the matching set. Quite literally one of the best inventions ever made, matching sets are so insanely cute and easy to throw together, because they come together! It requires no effort at all, so they’re perfect for those days when you need something to throw on after jumping out of bed, and they’re effortlessly stylish and timeless.
There are no limitations on the matching set either, from options with solid colors to patterns to even more intricate designs. I’d recommend hopping on this trend, even in the summer months, as the sweatsuits turn into shorts and tops.
- Cargo Shorts

Last, but not least, as we segue into the warmer weather Tallahassee has to offer, our next look is cargo shorts. Personally, I’m very short, so I haven’t been brave enough to buy my own pair yet; however, I want to.
So, I’ll encourage you to do what I can’t because these shorts are the cutest. I love when cargo shorts are paired with a tiny top that contrasts with the pants’ size. Cargos paired with bomber or varsity jackets are also timeless and effortlessly cool.
