For the last two Thanksgivings, I’ve made banana bread to go with the dessert spread. My family and I already love it, and I’ve gotten my extended family hooked. I start with Joy’s Easy Banana Bread recipe as a base, and add my own secret twists: chocolate chips and vanilla, which only makes the banana bread more delicious.
JESSICA’S BANANA BREAD RECIPE:
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup chocolate chips
- Gather all ingredients.
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Combine mashed bananas, sugar, egg, and butter together in a bowl.
- Mix flour and baking soda together in a separate bowl; stir into the banana mixture until the batter is just mixed.
- Stir in salt, vanilla, and chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean, about 1 hour.
- Enjoy!
This is a great dessert to add to any Thanksgiving spread, or just to make on a random weekend. Either way, having fresh banana bread is always a joy. (Ha, get it?) I’d recommend saving three ripe bananas and freezing them the week you want to make the banana bread, so that part is all set and ready to go!
