Taking time for yourself when you’re in school can be hard. Especially as the semester drags on and midterms approach. I wanted to share a couple of my tips and tricks for balancing school while also trying to take a few moments for yourself.

When I feel like instantly carve out some time in my calendar just for me. Starting with the essentials. I love putting on a face mask, painting my nails, reading a good book, or watching a movie. Sometimes, even making my favorite snacks does the trick.

Something I know I can always rely on when I’m feeling stressed is journaling. Journaling is the cure-all method for everything I’m feeling. I know it can be hard to get into journaling, especially when you don’t know where to start. The best way to start writing is to research some prompts that you think might resonate with how you’re feeling.

Even going on a long walk and listening to music or a motivational podcast can be super beneficial. Walking and being able to ponder how you feel can really help to clear your mind. Sometimes exercise can be just what you need. And remember, don’t be too hard on yourself because all self-care activities look different for everyone, and it’s okay to give your body a rest.
