With the holiday season right around the corner, it is time for the dreaded task of buying presents for everyone and anyone in your life. I want to help you this holiday season when picking the perfect gift for your mom, dad, siblings, and friends. Here is my holiday gift guide for the 2024 holiday season.Â
How to Shop For Your Mom
Buying presents for your mom, in my opinion, is one of the hardest things to do during the holidays. If you have a mom like mine who always says she doesn’t want anything but gets you everything you asked for, it can be hard to pick out the perfect gift. My biggest tip is to get something meaningful. It doesn’t have to be large or expensive, but getting something that shows you care and listen goes a long way.Â
This wasn’t a Christmas gift, but a few days ago I bought my mom a Diet Pepsi ornament to hang on our tree — she is obsessed with Diet Pepsi. Although it was five dollars from Walmart, she loved it. Getting your mom something that shows thoughtfulness and effort is much better than an expensive gift that she doesn’t really want.
How to Shop For Your Dad
I think buying gifts for your dad really depends on the type of dad you have. If your dad loves sports, buy him a jersey of his favorite team. If he loves music, maybe a record player or some new CDs (personally, my dad is pretty old school, so yes, he does still use CDs). Simply taking the time to think about his interests will go a long way in finding your dad a gift.
If your dad really does not want anything, you could always get him something he needs. A new fancy razor or some new socks can never hurt. Although these are not as personal, something practical and useful is always a good way to go.
How to Shop For Your Siblings
Shopping for your siblings is also a case-by-case basis. Personally, my twin brother and I have only bought each other gifts these past few years — and most of the time, they were small, funny gifts. What we did last Christmas was each buy each other flags to hang up in our rooms that we thought the other would like. If you are looking for something fun and unique to do with your siblings for the holidays, this could be an alternative to buying random presents.
How to Shop For Your Friends
I guess it depends on how close you are to your friends, but I find it fun to just get something small for everyone in my big friend group. Whether that be a gift card, a small gift basket, or just something I know they’d like, buying something small that shows you care is really all you have to do.Â
These are just a few ideas to get you thinking about shopping this holiday season. I hope it helped give you some inspiration for presents. Just remember, holidays aren’t all about gifts; it’s about showing people you care!
