How to keep your skin and hair healthy this winter

Winter is here, and as much as I love Christmas and cozy nights in, the cold weather means my hair and skin are going to be feeling it in the months to come. But you don’t have to suffer, as there are a few ways to make sure you’re glowing and gorgeous the same way you are in the summer.

PRIORITIZE YOUR MOISTURIZER

My number one tip for skincare is to swap out your normal moisturiser for a thicker one with no fragrance. The cold breeze means our skin gets very dry and sensitive, so we need a rich cream to keep our skin smooth and glowing. Any skincare product with fragrance isn’t great for anyone who has sensitive skin at the best of time, but especially in the winter. It’s best to keep it simple! A moisturiser i highly recommend is the Cerave moisture cream, you can buy it for £7.99! It can be used on the face and body and it was last you the whole of winter, as a little bit goes a long way.

ESSENTIAL HAIR OILS

Winter time can leave our hair looking dull, dry and lacking moisture so a good daily habit to revive it is to apply some hair oil in the mornings. Oil instantly makes your hair shiny, silky and sleek.. and it only takes a few drops a day to keep your hair full of life like it deserves. My favourite is the Olaplex No.7, which is a bit expensive costing £28 but it will last months so is worth the extra pennies!

GET YOUR DOSE OF VITAMIN C

If you’re like me and live in a cold and rainy country, our skin can look pretty pale and lifeless during the colder months. One way to stay glowy and radiant is getting a vitamin C serum for under your moisturiser. Vitamin C is a great antioxidant which helps to brighten the skin and sooth dullness. An amazing one i use everyday is from The Inky List and is pretty cheap too ranging between £10-£15! Another step to add to your routine is a facial tanning oil, I know this isn’t for everyone but will make sure you stay looking sun-kissed without the sun. Tan-luxe’s ‘The Face’ serum is the best of the best and doesn’t leave you looking like an orange, more of a bronzed babe whilst being budget friendly ranging from £10-£15.

HAIR MASKS

Hair masks are an absolute must all year round, but especially when it’s chilly out. If you use one twice a week after shampooing it makes your feel like you’ve come straight out the salon. Garnier’s hair food is the best of the best, most importantly the papaya flavour (but there is a range to choose from). I like to leave it on for about 15 minutes and wrap my hair in a warm microfibre towel while I wait for it to do it’s magic. Afterwards you’ll be walking around with hair straight out of a magazine cover.

A bonus tip for all your health needs is take to your vitamin D supplements! This is so important for when we don’t get much sunlight and can not only keep your skin and hair healthy, but will also help with your mental health, energy levels and boost your immunity, what more could you want.

I hope this helps you guys to be healthy glowing babes this winter season.
