the art of the clown
aimed to please everyone
the repetitive, circular motion
holding what almost seems too much
balancing what almost seems impossible
without missing a beat
everyone has expectations
of the performance the clown must live up to
of the happiness it must create for everyone
and how anything else
only causes disappointment
i wonder if anyone stopped to think
the amount of pressure the clown faced
to perfect it’s act
all the time and effort it put in
to create the result everyone sees at face value
but as the clown, let me tell you
the responsibilities never end
and the smile can’t drop
so the clown keeps going
juggling and juggling and juggling
without complaining
without stopping
until the applause rings
and the show has finished
just for the next one to start
