The Good Mullet4/26/2012 |
Don’t let the name confuse you! This all-so-popular trend has a negative reputation all thanks to the “hillbilly” haircut. Back to the trend, the “mullet” silhouette has been seen on runways and red carpets as a fun, flirty way to show some skin. This fashionista rocks the mullet skirt for a casual day of classes. Paired with a simple white tank, combat boots and black-rimmed glasses, her laid-back, geek-chic ensemble is ideal for a hot day on campus. I love how this skirt is like an illusion: short in the front, long in the back. It’s a perfect combination. I also just have to mention her hair – I am in love with the big curls!

Orange Is The New Black4/19/2012 |
If there is a color this season you have to have, coral it is! Pretty much any shade of orange is the way to go. It has been seen all over the runway and been pegged as the color to have in your closet this season. This fashionista is wearing a gray maxi skirt with a coral button up. The outfit itself could have stood alone but the accessories took it to the next level. Her leopard belt and leopard shoes were the perfect matches to this bright coral. I love it! Her black necklace also complements the leopard with the bright; it pulled everything together. If you’re wondering how to be comfortable yet cute on campus, a maxi skirt is a great way to go. Just somehow fit the color orange into your outfit and you will be on trend and have heads turning! |
The Bolder, The Better4/12/2012 |
When it comes to bright colors, a little goes a long way. In this case, putting the right colors together can work. This fashionista rocks two hot spring colors. Her royal blue dress is perfectly complemented with a citron yellow blazer and leopard flats. The pattern of her flats is the perfect accessory to the brightness of her outfit! I literally love bright colors because not only do they get you noticed, but also make you look tan – and who doesn’t like to look tan? Add any bright color or two to your wardrobe and you will be sure to brighten up your day.

Downtown Get Down3/31/2012 |
The biggest struggle for us girls is finding the perfect outfit to wear out. We sit there for hours trying everything on in our closets until we can’t see our floors anymore. Well, take it from this fashionista who clearly knows how to find the perfect outfit. Sporting the all-so-popular red jeans, she is ready to hit the town. She pairs these jeans with a button-down printed shirt, which adds the perfect edge. The reason I love this look so much is the way she put it together: her hair slicked back into the perfect bun, cherry red lips (perfect) and her black suede fringe bag complete this rocker-chic look. Her carefree, fearless attitude really shines through. So girls, instead of changing your outfit 20 times before you go out, take your favorite outfit and spice it up with accessories and hair. At the end of the day, it's not what you wear – it's how you wear it! |
Spring Has Sprung3/27/2012 |
Guys, this one is for you! I know when you wake up all you want to do is get ready in the shortest amount of time possible, savoring every last second of sleep. Well, look at this fashionisto and take advice. He even made his own shorts. Sporting this ease into spring look, he complements his DIY burgundy (LOVE this color this season), corduroy shorts with a white button-down under an argyle sweater vest. Can we just talk about the fact that he made these shorts? Guys, it’s that simple. Take a pair of your favorite pants and cut them. It's easy because you can take what’s already in your closet and transform it into something season appropriate.

Strip Down With Stripes3/19/2012 |
With spring around the corner and a lack of a winter, Central Florida’s students are making the best of the 90-degree weather. This fashionista’s nautical-inspired tank is what caught my attention. Stripes are a huge trend this spring, from shorts to blazers to even a simple tank. First of all, her tank was tied in the front allowing her destroyed denim shorts to perfectly complement the tank. She accessorized with cognac strappy sandals and a cognac fringe shoulder bag, which I loved! You can never go wrong with fringe. They give any boring, plane Jane outfit that extra spunk. So girls, just because the weather isn’t so friendly doesn’t mean you can’t look like a fashionista. Find something simple and take it to the next level. Tie the bottom of the shirt; add the right accessories and you can have a weather-appropriate, chic outfit in no time!

Go With the Flow2/28/2012 |
Move over skinny jeans! There’s a new pair of pants in town and they are way more comfortable. Say hello to the palazzo! For those of you who know and love the maxi skirt, the palazzo pants will be your new best friend. The fact that these pants are flattering on almost any body type makes them that much more appealing.

Work Hard, Play Harder2/21/2012 |
Straight from your internship to class and even to have a few cocktails, this business casual look goes straight from day to night. This fashionista rocked this look. With the added color of the maroon scarf and the mismatching of black slacks with a white blazer, it really doesn’t get any better than this. White blazers have made their way back, and the way this fashionista incorporated it into this look couldn’t get more perfect. I loved everything about this look to the wavy hair all the way down to the black ballet flats. Finishing the look, I can’t help but notice her candy apple red laptop case, which completes her on-the-go ensemble. If you are looking at ways to go straight from the office to class, get inspiration from this fashionista’s look. |
Polka Dots on the Rise2/15/2012 |
A decade old pattern is happily making its way back on the streets. Polka dots have been fashions newest conversation piece this season. Usually a pattern people seem to shy away from, this fashionista piles on the polka dots and boy does she look fabulous! Pairing her polka dot skirt from H&M with a pink polka dot shirt from Jason Wu’s new target line was the perfect way to mix this pattern without going overboard. Her accessories, which complete this look, include cognac oxfords, a leather jacket embellished with gold and silver studs and her vintage, tribal inspired messenger bag (I wish this wasn't vintage because it is even more amazing in person!) The fact that she took several statement pieces and made them work together is why I love this look. Just because the last time you saw this pattern is at home watching reruns of “I Love Lucy” doesn’t mean its not fashions newest craze! Start small and pick up polka dot accessories then channel your inner fashionista and take a risk!
