Kean Xpedition: Retro Viral Voting

3/2/2013

Kean Xpedition, for those of you who don't know, is a club on campus that brings students together with fun games and events where they give away amazing prizes.

This is their last event and boy is it huge! They are giving away a dream package of a macbook pro, ipad, and ipod touch.

To earn these prizes Kean students had to submit a recreation of a well known scene from a movie, television, or music video. They did this by creating a video of themselves or others where they reenacted  the famous scene. To be a part of the contest they needed to follow Kean on Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube.

This week you get to vote on your favorite video! Go to the keanxpedition website: www.keanxpedition.com to see the videos.

Support your fellow students and help a friend win the dream package!

Meet Sara Paczkowski: Intern at Teen Vogue

2/23/2013

There are very many magazines that us aspiring journalists would love to get just our toe in the door. Cosmopolitan, Seventeen Magazine, Elle, Vogue, Teen Vogue, and People are a few of these magazines. Well our very own HerCampus Kean writer Sara Paczkowski got an amazing internship at TeenVogue!

“Having the opportunity to work and learn with such a great group of skilled individuals is probably my favorite part of being an intern at Teen Vogue. I am also lucky enough to assist with events and see how everything falls into place behind the scenes!” said Paczkowski.

A marketing/promotions intern at Teen Vogue, Paczkowski travels to the magazine's location in NYC a few days a week. Paczkowski said, “I work in the merchandising department, which means I have the opportunity to assist with day-to-day business activities, both in the office and out of the office. I help with cataloging and shipping items, customer support and preparing samples.”

Paczkowski is a senior at Kean majoring in English with a focus in writing and minoring in health. She is involved in many writing activities on campus including HC Kean and the school newspaper the “Tower.” These activities were just the start of things that helped her land her wonderful internship.

Unique Style on Kean Campus

2/2/2013

Walking around campus has not been very fun the past few days with the cold temperature and icy wind. In addition, it is not easy to be fashionable during this type of weather. Wearing big bulky jackets and thick warm clothes doesn't always make the chicest outfit. Even worse, everywhere you look are red noses and rosy cheeks from being wind burnt. It is not enjoyable nor is it helpful. Fashionistas have a hard decision to make: be warm and hide your trendy outfit or risk the frost bite and show of your style?

Well our very own Nicole Walker has found a way to do both!

Flattered that we loved her look, but too shy to remark, Nicole declined to comment on her outfit. But no worries, we have a lot to say about it.

A sophomore at Kean studying Sociology, Nicole doesn't let the cold ruin her stylish side. Wearing a navy blue puffer jacket with a long knit beige scarf, she is the epitome of “hot” fashion. The jacket and scarf will keep her nice and toasty, but also looking good.

Not stopping there, our fashionista's accessories are the most adorable things that we have ever seen. Her tan, lace up boots are girly and adorable, but with a hint of masculinity. Plus they are great for walking around campus in this cold weather.

Kean University Wears Red for Heart Disease

2/2/2013

Did you know that heart disease is still the number one killer of women? It takes the life of 1 in 3 women each year. Millions are affected by heart disease, but not many people know or are aware of heart disease until it is too late.

Kean University made it their mission to do so. On Friday February 1, 2013 students, teachers, and workers all wore the color red to show their support.

Earlier in the week an email was sent out to everyone at Kean University asking for everyone to join the American Heart Association’s fight against heart disease by participating in the national Wear Red Day. Wear Red Day is a chance for us to arm ourselves with knowledge about this devastating disease and to raise funds that will help the American Heart Association advance its research.

To show our support for the fight against heart disease in women, students and faculty were asked to wear the bold color red on Friday February first. It was an easy, powerful way to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and stroke in both men and women.

Throughout the day students could make a donation at the Wear Red Day table in the University Center Atrium from 12 noon to 4 p.m. or in the Center for Leadership and Service. For every $1 donation you could receive a red dress pin, which symbolizes your commitment to love your heart. All proceeds would be donated to the American Heart Association.

Fun and Flirty Date Outfits for the Fall Season

11/29/2012

Although it might be starting to feel like the winter season, it is still autumn. With the fall season still in swing, there are lots of fun fall dates to experience. Here is a list of some date suggestions as well as outfits that will guarantee a good time between you and your guy.

Coffee Date Outfit

Coffee dates are great for first dates. It's a casual atmosphere, cheap, and trendy. When he sees you in this outfit, he'll be hot and bothered and I don't think it will be the coffee. This outfit will show your sexiness without trying too hard. The dark red is in fashion for the fall, so the red flats and lips will be a great touch. Plus, your outfit will make the red stand out. Beware because he'll be focusing on you and your red lips the whole time.
