3 Cherry-Scented Perfumes That Are Total YSL Over Red Dupes

On Dec. 12, YSL announced the release of a new scent under the Black Opium line, christened Over Red, a more cherry-focused fragrance for women. Coming in after a long line of cherry perfumes this past year, those of us itching to test this new scent might have better luck trying some more affordable, yet alluring YSL Over Red dupes.

YSL’s original 2014 Black Opium fragrance, which was a flanker to 1977’s Opium, takes a modern twist, embracing a more contemporary and daring spirit. Its overall popularity skyrocketed, finding favor not only among fragrance connoisseurs, but also in the celebrity realm. Today, the trend of cherry-scented perfumes has resurged. This fruity and gourmand fragrance is often a favorite because of its rich sweetness, and this season, consumers have nurtured the boom of the cherry scent.

Coming in after a long line of these luxury releases — including Tom Ford’s recent expansion on the Private Blend Cherry Collection with the Electric Cherry and Cherry Smoke fragrances — Over Red promises the fusion of the classic Black Opium DNA, combined with alluring notes of cherry. But if you’re looking for affordable perfume dupes that capture the essence of a cherry scent in Over Red, you may want to consider the following options!

Fine’ry “Not Another Cherry” Fragrance ($34)

The Fine’ry Not Another Cherry fragrance is a captivating dupe for that luxury cherry scent that many designer brands favor at a fraction of the price. Launched in 2023, the sophisticated and alluring charm is reminiscent of high-end perfumes and blends together a sharp sweetness with an almondy undertone.

Dossier Amber Cherry ($50)

Dossier’s Amber Cherry fragrance, which was originally inspired by Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry, also fuses together the charms of cherry and almond. This rich and ambery structure swirls into a rather tantalizing statement piece, which is perfect for the current season.

Chez Pierre Fiction ($20)

Lastly, the Chez Pierre Fiction fragrance makes the perfect dupe for the new opium-to-cherry combination. Although it also was released as an impression on the Tom Ford Lost Cherry perfume, this product melds a “candy-like gleam of exotic black cherry and liqueur,” touched rich, warm vanilla and coffee, reminiscent of YSL’s signature notes.

Keep in mind that these suggestions may not be exact replicas, but they share some similar notes or vibes. Finding a dupe for a specific fragrance, like YSL’s new Black Opium addiction, can be subjective — but if cherry is what you’re looking for, cherry is what we’ve got!
