Here comes the bride, all dressed in Chanel! Sofia Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander, got married the weekend of April 22 to music executive Elliot Grainge. Their wedding took place in Antibes, France at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
The 24-year-old had three beautiful custom made dresses from Chanel for her wedding — one for the rehearsal dinner, the wedding after-party, and of course, the wedding dress itself. Each dress had beautiful beaded details, and when trying on the rehearsal dinner dress with Vogue, Richie said, “I’m scared to move because I don’t want to ruin one bead.” The dress was a long-sleeve, mock turtleneck with beaded details going down her chest and arms — absolutely stunning. Richie said, “I feel like a princess, I really do,” which is so sweet. Isn’t that what everyone wants on their wedding day?
For the after-party, Richie decided to go with a cocktail dress that was inspired by Claudia Schiffer’s “iconic” 1993 Chanel runway dress. Richie’s after-party was nightclub themed, and she said she’d be spending the night dancing and eating pizza and fries. “Pray for this dress,” she said. If my after-party dress was Chanel, I would probably wear a garbage bag over it all night just to make sure I wouldn’t ruin it, but that’s just me. I bet Sofia has a lot more elegance when it comes to chowing down pizza than I do.
Finally, the ceremony dress! “It is such magic,” Richie said. She also shared how supportive Grainge is with everything she wears, and is her biggest cheerleader when it comes to her style. It’s adorable how excited she was for him to see it. I could really feel the love through this video.
Richie also shared an intimate detail about her ceremony dress in the video. It’s an old wedding tradition for the bride to wear something blue on their wedding day, whether it’s a blue necklace, or a blue garter, or something else with significance. Blue is supposed to symbolize faithfulness and bring luck to the couple. For Sofia’s something blue, she had ‘S + E’ embroidered on the inside of her dress with their wedding date underneath it. She wanted to keep it close to her chest, so she decided to get it embroidered right at the top of her dress. How romantic is that?
