Pier 36 in New York City was the place to be on May 24 for the 3rd annual BeautyCon!

The all-day event features YouTube beauty and style gurus coming together to socialize with one another and to meet their fans. Sponsors included such cosmetic brands as Too Faced, Tarte, Maybelline and bareMinerals.

Basically, BeautyCon is a place to come together with other women who love makeup and beauty. You can talk about products while trying out new ones with professional makeup artists at your assistance. The three levels of tickets you could purchase — general admission, VIP and Pro — each included different privileges, but all three groups were able to come together within Pier 36 to visit booths and win prizes.

When my sister and I arrived at BeautyCon, the first person we saw near the door was Whitney Port. I couldn’t even deal.

Once we walked in, we saw that there was a stage in the middle of the room with a DJ spinning the latest beats and plenty of room to dance.

An interactive braiding station sponsored by Uberliss was another cool feature of the day.

So of course I had to get in on the action!

There were so many amazing beauty gurus from YouTube just walking around and meeting fans. I got to talk with a few of my favorites, including Rachel Whitehurst, whom I spoke about in my 5 Best YouTube Beauty Gurus article.

Lexie Lombard from BeautyRush315 was at BeautyCon, too. I got to make a slow-motion dance video with her during the event, and then we got a picture together afterward.

Even P’Trique, who recorded a viral YouTube video and made a guest appearance on America’s Next Top Model, graced BeautyCon with his presence.

Oh, and how could I forget the fact that I ran into model Tanner Zagarino? He was covering BeautyCon for Teen Vogue, so be on the lookout for that!

I think that my favorite part of the day was having a personal mentoring session with the beauty director, beauty editor and assistant beauty editor of ELLE Magazine. Emily Dougherty, ELLE’s beauty director, said, “I love Her Campus!” when I told her that I was a national contributor with the site, so I considered that a big win!

After I told her about my editorial involvement across the board, she said, “Well, when you’re my boss someday, I want a raise!” so I was definitely flattered. My sister and I took a photo with the three of them afterward, and of course, we represented the ELLE name strong.

Since ELLE Magazine was one of the main sponsors of the event, they even had an interactive photobooth! My sister and I had to get in on that, of course. #ELLEYeah.

Even better, Tarte Cosmetics had a giant polaroid that you could take a photo with, and after posting it on Instagram or Twitter, they gave you a free slice of pizza. You know I made sure I did that!

After the day and the buzz was over, my sister and I took a bus home to Boston, filled with joy and excitement after a fun day. Here’s all the free swag I ended up walking away with.

I definitely had an amazing time at BeautyCon, and I’d love to go again next year. If you’re a West Coast gal, do know that there’s another BeautyCon this summer in Los Angeles!

Well, BeautyCon, thanks for exceeding my expectations, and see you next year!
