Natural Deodorants That Really Work, According to Reviews

There are times where we depend on our deodorant to get us through the most sweat-inducing situations odor free, such as our intense soul cycle workouts or our important job interviews. But, there are some serious downfalls to regular deodorants and antiperspirants. David Bank, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at New York Presbyterian and Columbia University Medical Center, told Allure that antiperspirants can hinder normal bodily functions such as the formation of sweat. Sweat helps our body to regulate temperature and release toxins. It also contains an active ingredient of aluminum, which prevents your body from producing sweat, and the parabens found in antiperspirants have been linked to Alzheimer’s and breast cancer. Natural deodorants are usually made without aluminum and made with all-natural ingredients, so they’re better for you!

Finding the right natural deodorant can be hard and involve a significant amount of trial and error. And when you find something that works, it’s definitely a major win for you. Of course, through this trial period, people have developed a ton of opinions on what works and what doesn’t work. We’ve rounded up some of the best natural deodorants based on reviews that will keep you smelling and feeling great.

Meow Meow Tweet Grapefruit Deodorant Cream

If you want a baking-soda-free deodorant that actually works, then this is for you. The creamy paste uses magnesium, coconut oil, arrowroot powder, and various essential oils to control moisture and odor, so you’ll smell fresh for hours. To those with sensitive skin, it’s not as irritating as other natural deodorants. The product comes in a fresh grapefruit scent, but also in a sweet lavender.

The natural deodorant has a 4 ½ stars on Follian, with a high number of positive reviews. “Doesn’t add caking residual stains on clothing, smells great, and it lasts all day without reapplication, the only one I have found so far that does all the things,” one reviewer wrote.

Others weren’t 100 percent sold, calling the product effective, but messy. “This is the only baking soda free deodorant that has worked for me. I do have to reapply 2-3x a day but would rather that than have toxic ingredients in my pits,” Roxi, a reviewer, wrote. “The application is messy, getting underneath my fingernails and leaving a weird texture on my hands that I must rinse off, sometimes getting on my shirt in the process.”

If you have a sensitivity to baking soda and want high-quality natural deodorant, then we highly recommend this.

Kopari Coconut Deodorant

This vegan product by Kopari is all about the coconut. Infused with coconut oil and sage oil, it is meant to condition and soothe sensitive skin while keeping you odor-free. It applies clear and glides on smooth so you won’t have to worry about stains on your clothes (this is definitely a pet-peeve of mine).

There are mainly mixed reviews with this products, but those who absolutely love Kopari claim that it really works. “I’m so pleasantly surprised by this deodorant. I’ve been using it for over 2 weeks and it works wonderfully,” Anne, a reviewer, wrote. “It glides on silky smooth and doesn’t leave a weird residue. It lasts all day even when I’m really active.” The deodorant claims to keeps the sweat and stickiness at bay, but some reviews say that after eight hours you might need to reapply

If coconut isn’t your smell, it does come in an unscented version.

Corpus Third Rose Deodorant

Okay, this deodorant looks super luxe, and it’s definitely on the more bougie side of natural deodorants (think regular facial appointments expensive). It claims to have a very natural, yet not too overpowering scent. The product is vegan and free of not only aluminum, but other things that people worry about like parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances. It’s completely vegan and baking soda free.

Reviewers claim that it goes on thin and that you will need to reapply on your more sweaty days. But, on Corpus Naturals website, the product does have a five-star rating. “The scent is AMAZING, the application is incredibly smooth, it’s see-through and leaves no residue…I’m shocked over the fact that it lasts all day and I don’t need to re-apply,” Alice from New York wrote.

You can also get it in cedar root, violet, and Italian mandarin.

When natural deodorants first came out, there were a ton of issues. They were too hard to use and didn’t curb body odor. Thanks to science, we have a ton of options to choose from and they all can work differently on different people. So, take your time, test it out, and figure out what works best for you.
