How To Keep Your Hair Moisturized During Thanksgiving Break

It can be a challenge to keep your hair moisturized around the winter holidays. You’ve got to drink enough water, use the best products, but also make sure you’re not overwashing it. And, around the time Thanksgiving rolls around, the weather is harsher on your hair and can lead to breakage and split ends.

For Thanksgiving this year, I decided I needed to find a good hair care routine, and stick with it, to make sure my hair looks healthy in all the family photos! So, I changed up my morning and night-time routines, and with the help of some new products from Ulta Beauty, my hair will be super moisturized during Thanksgiving break. Now, I’ll be *extra* thankful for how these products will keep my beautiful hair healthy all holiday season long!

My Morning Routine

The tgin Miracle RepaiRx Smooth & Protect Anti-Breakage Edge Control has been my go-to in the morning. It helps to create a smooth, finished look, and protects my hair in the cold. To use it, I simply apply the product to my edges, and then smooth out my hair using a brush. Yep, it’s that easy!

Afterward, I finish my morning hair routine by using the Design Essentials Almond & Avocado Curl Enhancing Mousse to help reduce my frizz. To use it, I pump the mousse onto the top of my head and spread the product all over my braids. Then, I put a bonnet over my hair for a few minutes to ensure my braids are moisturized and ready to take on the cold air and the long Thanksgiving day without getting damaged or dry!

Nighttime Routine

Because I’ve learned that my hair absorbs hair products quickly, I like to use the Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil just two to three nights a week. And, I know my hair will thank me when I use it after a weekend of being outside in the cold weather!

When using it, I apply it to each section of my braids and gently massage it into my scalp with my fingers to increase blood circulation and improve hair growth. Bonus? This product is not only great for moisturizing your scalp, but it’s also infused with Biotin, so it encourages strengthening, too!

Protective Styles

Throughout the winter, I like to wear braids to give my strands a break from pulling and tugging, and allow my hair time to grow. If you choose to put your hair in braids too, you’ll definitely still need to moisturize them beforehand to keep them hydrated. But, no matter which protective style you do, it’s important to understand your hair, so you’ll know when it is time to apply and reapply the moisturizing product.

These tricks and products have worked wonders for my hair so far this winter, and I’m excited to keep up with my routine to make sure my hair stays moisturized for Thanksgiving break – and so my hair looks perfect and healthy in those family photos!
