13 Last-Minute Halloween Costumes If You’ve Got A Bob Haircut

Halloween always seems to sneak up on me. But instead of leaving you to scramble to find a costume, I’ve compiled a list for all my short-haired folks out there. If you have a bob, you already know how tricky it can be to find a costume that works with your haircut. While long-haired characters seem to have endless options, finding someone with a similar cut can feel like a Halloween costume hunt of its own. The last thing you want to do is spend hours shopping for a costume you’ll only wear once.

Luckily, having short hair doesn’t mean your costume options are limited. From iconic movie characters to nostalgic TV favorites, there are plenty of recognizable looks you can recreate with pieces you probably already have in your closet. All it takes is a little creativity, some strategic accessorizing, and maybe a trip to your local thrift store.

Whether you’re heading to a Halloween party or just looking for an excuse to dress up, these Halloween costume ideas for people with bobs are perfect for anyone who wants to put together a cute look without the last-minute stress.

Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

For the blondes, this Violet costume is almost too easy. All you need is a blue tracksuit and lots of blue eyeshadow for your nose. But before you leave the house, don’t forget to pop a stick of gum in your mouth.

The Other Mother

With polka dots being so trendy right now, you’ve probably got everything you need for this costume sitting in your closet. Just take out a black polka dot dress and black heels, and you’ve turned into Coraline’s Other Mother. You can even take this costume up a notch by using black eyeshadow to recreate the Other Mother’s button eyes.

Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction

To my cinephiles, this one’s for you. Mia Wallace is an iconic Halloween costume, and if you already have the dark bob to match, you’re halfway there. Just grab a white button-up shirt, a black lace bra to wear underneath, and black slacks, and you’ll look like you stepped straight out of a Quentin Tarantino movie. Just don’t forget the bloody nose — you can easily recreate it with a little red eyeshadow.

Rapunzel

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, who chopped off your hair? If you’re a brunette with a bob, don’t waste the opportunity to dress like Rapunzel with her hair cut off at the end of the movie. For this look, all you need is a pretty pink or purple dress and a tiara to complete your princess transformation.

Tina Belcher from Bob’s Burgers

This look is simple but cute. Tina’s costume requires a light blue top, a dark blue skirt, high rise socks, and your choice of sneakers.

Catwoman

To the redheads rocking a bob, Zoë Kravitz’s interpretation of Catwoman is the costume for you. Dress in all black, throw on a cat mask, and call it a day. You’ll have the coolest costume of the night with minimal effort.

Velma from Scooby Doo

Sometimes, classics are better. For this Velma costume, you need a light orange turtleneck, a dark orange mini skirt, knee-high socks, and red heels.

Snow White

You might be surprised to learn that you have most of the pieces for this costume in the back of your closet. A Snow White costume requires a blue top paired with a yellow skirt. To finish off the look, you can tie a red ribbon around your head. Just don’t forget to bring an apple.

Dora the Explorer

Come on, vámonos! If you grew up watching Dora the Explorer, this costume is the perfect way to bring some childhood nostalgia to Halloween. The best part? Dora’s signature look is super easy to recreate — especially if you have a brunette bob. All you need is a pink shirt, orange shorts, white socks, and sneakers. And don’t forget your backpack!

Drew Berrymore in Scream

Horror movie fans, this one is for you! Before Ghostface became a Halloween staple, Drew Barrymore gave us one of the most iconic opening scenes in horror history. To recreate her look as Casey Becker, all you need is a blonde bob, a cream-colored sweater, and a pair of jeans. If you want to go the extra mile, grab a cordless phone to recreate the movie’s unforgettable opening scene.

Lady Bird

For all the Greta Gerwig fanatics, Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson from Lady Bird is the perfect pick. Her signature short pink hair makes this look especially great for anyone with a bob. Pair a button-up shirt and a black vest with a plaid skirt for the rest of your look. Don’t forget to wrap a pink bandage for your hand.

Mavis from Hotel Transylvania

Who says vampires can’t be cute? If you’re looking for a costume that’s equal parts spooky and adorable, Mavis from Hotel Transylvania is the perfect choice. Just throw on a black dress, striped tights, and black boots, and you’ll be ready to check into Hotel Transylvania. For the finishing touches, add a swipe of black lipstick and embrace your inner vampire.

Mia Dolan from La La Land

For all my hopeless romantics, Mia Dolan from La La Land is the perfect Halloween costume. All you need is a flowy yellow dress and a pair of tap shoes to recreate her iconic look from the movie’s dreamy dance scene. Who knows? You might even find your very own Sebastian.
