Here’s How To Get Taylor’s ‘Midnights’ Mani Yourself

So, who wants to get a Midnights mani with me? On Oct. 20, Taylor Swift took to her Instagram Story to share her starry manicure in honor of her new album Midnights, which was released at midnight on Oct. 21 (oh, and Blondie even dropped seven more songs at 3 a.m. EST — she truly is unhinged). On her Story showing off her fresh nails, Swift wrote, “Meet me at midnight. Midnights manicure 💅.” And I’m sorry, but this might just be my new favorite fall nail trend.

The singer’s natural nails were painted a deep navy or black hue (it’s a bit hard to tell from the photo, but my gut is going with black nail polish), with glitter, sparkles, and tiny stars sprinkled on top. Is this not the cutest mani ever?! The dark, glittery look is perfect for fall and spooky season — especially if you plan on dressing up with a Midnights-themed Halloween costume

If you want to get Swift’s same iconic mani, you don’t even have to make a trip to the nail salon (you can if you want, though, OFC), because it’s actually pretty easy to DIY at home. All you need is some nail polish, glitter, and tiny stars (and a good top coat to make sure your mani lasts — pro tip: try gel curing).

To start, make sure you have a black or deep navy nail polish. If you want a navy, midnight-colored hue, try Nails.INC 73% Plant Power Nail Polish in Spiritual Gangster – Navy ($10), essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in Caviar Bar ($15), or ORLY Nail Polish in Midnight Oasis ($10). Alternatively, if you want a black nail polish for an extra-dark look, check out essie Nail Polish in Licorice ($11), Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color in Black to Black ($6), or ella+mila Nail Polish in Lights Out ($11).

Then, grab a glitter nail polish — NAILS INC. Electric Avenue Glitter Nail Polish ($15) and ORLY Nail Lacquer in Holy Holo! ($11) are both great options — and tiny stars. You can either get tiny silver star stickers to place on your nails, or snag Nails.INC Showstopping Spitalfields Star Topper Nail Polish ($10) for a quick and easy application.

Now, here’s the step-by-step. First, start with your dark-hued nail polish, painting two to three coats on your nails. Then, follow up with one sheer layer of any glitter nail polish of your choice, and finish things off with the stars. If you use star stickers, make sure to put a top coat on top to seal the whole look in (but if you use a product like the Nails.INC Showstopping Spitalfields Star Topper Nail Polish ($10), you can totally skip a top coat). And there you have it — your nails look just like Blondie’s!
