Beyoncé’s Dropping A Hair Care Line Called Cécred, & Here’s The Release Date

Ever since the Renaissance World Tour ended in October 2023, fans have been anxiously waiting on a live album and music videos, but Beyoncé is keeping the Beyhive on its toes. Queen Bey may not be releasing the visuals for her Renaissance album any time soon, but she has a different surprise in store: Beyoncé is officially launching her very own hair care line called Cécred, and it seems to be all about self-love.

Beyoncé posted a video to Instagram on Feb. 6 teasing Cécred’s release along with the caption, “Hair is sacred.” The video shows clips of a young Bey at her mother’s hair salon and multiple shots of women with a variety of hair textures getting their hair washed, cut, and styled.

Beyoncé is no stranger to dropping products in the fashion and beauty sphere. She released a perfume called Cé Noir last October and has operated her clothing brand, Ivy Park, since 2016. Fans are now desperate to know more about her new hair care brand, myself included (if that wasn’t already obvious).

When Will Cécred Be Released?

In her Instagram post, Beyoncé wrote, “The journey begins Feb. 20.” Although fans don’t know what products Beyoncé has in store just yet, hopefully, this is the date fans can expect to purchase some.

How Long Has Beyoncé Been Teasing Her Hair Care Line?

Beyoncé shared a post in May 2023 of her rocking some curls along with a very personal message hinting at her work on the hair care brand. She wrote, “How many of y’all knew my first job was sweeping hair at my mama’s salon?” and “I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon. I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls. I watched her heal and be of service to so many women. Having learned so much on my hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy. I can’t wait for you to experience what I’ve been creating.” It’s clear that Cécred has been a labor of love for Beyoncé.

What Does Cécred Mean?

Besides the fact that Cécred references the last two letters of Beyoncé’s name, the hair care brand has an even deeper meaning. Beyoncé’s caption, “Hair is sacred,” confirms the correct pronunciation of the line is “sacred,” and hints at the value Beyoncé holds for her hair. One TikTok user @iam.akosia posted a video explaining the significance of “sacred” and its connection to hair within the Black community. She explains that hair is a part of Black culture and identity, making Cécred a fitting and important name for the hair care brand.

The Best Cécred Announcement Reactions

It’s safe to say that the Beyhive is excited for Cécred, but still awaiting more releases from the queen herself. User @tennyrudolph wrote, “Ima just assume the live album is inside the box of shampoo,” which received over 12,000 likes in less than a day. Another fan said, “Yonce girl my pockets are tired!! But I’ll figure it out as per usual.” User @krazygemini even referenced Beyoncé’s music video for her song “Sorry” and wrote, “So what are you gonna say at my funeral now that you’ve killed me?”

As a Dominican girl who grew up going to the Dominican hair salon with my mom, Beyoncé’s video and announcement hits close to home. I’m excited to see what Cécred has in store, and what it will mean to the curly-haired community.
