4 Ways to Wear Distressed Denim This Spring

The sun is out until the evening, the temperature is slowly starting to rise, and I can finally order myself an iced coffee without feeling judged – that’s right friends, it’s springtime. With warm weather basically here, it’s time to replace your sweatshirt and leggings combo with girly crop tops, skirts and ripped jeans.

If you’re anything like me, you’re currently on the hunt for the trendiest pieces to pick up and rock this spring. In my everlasting pursuit of finding cute clothes on Instagram, I’ve found myself totally obsessed with distressed denim. From different washes and styles of jeans to dresses, skirts and jackets, there are tons of ways to wear this look. But its versatility is what makes it such a warm-weather staple.

Here are four distressed denim looks that you need to try out this season!

Boyfriend jeans

Ripped jeans are totally the way to go in the spring. You can style them any way you want, and you have the opportunity to dress them up or down. You can pair medium-wash boyfriend jeans, like these Torn Blue Mom Jeans from Pacsun ($48), with a flowy top and heels for the ultimate girly-girl look, or go a bit edgier with a graphic tee and sneakers. Either way, the universal nature of boyfriend jeans makes them the perfect spring staple. We love.

Denim jackets

OK, who doesn’t love a good denim jacket? It’s the best transitional piece for when the weather is slowly starting to get warmer, plus it’s perfect for layering. Depending on your style, you can find your dream distressed jean jacket at a variety of stores. This light-wash jacket from Forever 21 ($39) is definitely in my shopping cart this season.

If you’re more of a DIY queen, you can even hit your local thrift store and find one to distress yourself! Either way, I can guarantee you’ll be obsessed with rocking one all season long.

Denim skirts

I’m totally here for this trend. Denim skirts are absolutely necessary in the warmer months, and they can be worn for almost any occasion – whether it’s class, a first date, or a girl’s night out. The best part is that they’re super versatile, too.

You can pair a classic medium-wash denim skirt, like this Wrangler skirt from Urban Outfitters ($89), with a band tee-shirt and sneakers for a cute girl-next-door vibe, or with a bodysuit and booties if you’re trying to look a bit more put together. If you ask me, they’re definitely worth investing in.

Overalls

Just hear me out and try not to think of Michelle Tanner wearing overalls on Full House circa-1993, OK? Distressed denim overalls are super on-trend this spring, and they’re so easy to throw on over a baby tee or graphic top. You can get them in dress form, like this Distressed Overall Dress from Forever21 ($25), or rock the full pant and splurge with these Lonestar Distressed Denim Overalls from Urban Outfitters ($198). If you’re looking for a more affordable option, this pair from Pacsun ($42) are just as trendy. Either way, I’m totally advocating for everyone to invest in a pair.

They make a super easy and effortless outfit, and when paired with cute accessories and shoes, people will think you put a ton of time into getting dressed even if you happened to roll out of bed a half an hour before. The uncomplicated nature of overalls has us totally obsessed with rocking them all spring long.

Regardless of how you decide to rock this trend, remember that styling is fun. As long as you feel good, you’re guaranteed to look absolutely amazing this spring.
