You Need To Watch These New TV Shows Premiering This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at York U chapter.

One of my favorite things about fall are all the new TV shows that premiere. This year, there is no shortage of new shows to watch! There are new comedies, dramas, and even some reboots. Don’t worry if you’re unsure which new shows are worth watching. I’ve rounded up five promising new shows that have already aired or will be airing before the end of October. Hopefully, you’ll check out one of these great new shows!

Manifest

The second the trailer for Manifest came out, I was intrigued. This show is unlike anything else playing on TV right now. It premiered on September 24th and had already peaked the viewers’ interests. Manifest is centered around passengers of a plane that landed in New York who were told that it had been 5 years since they’d departed. Those passengers were all presumed to be dead which shocks them. They then have to re-establish their lives and figure out why this mysterious event happened and how it connects them all.

The pilot episode was really interesting and it left viewers with a lot of questions. What happened to the passengers of flight 828? How were they on a plane in the sky for five years without landing? Hopefully our questions will be answered soon!

FBI

From the mind of Dick Wolf, creator of Law & Order, FBI stars Missy Peregrym (Rookie Blue) and Zeeko Zaki (24: Legacy) as two New York City FBI agents who investigate cases of terrorism, organized crime and counterintelligence to keep their city safe. It’s sure to be a dramatic show and if you’re into cop/crime shows then this one’s for you.

New Amsterdam

This new medical show is based off a book about a real hospital in New York. Certain events and patients taken from the book will be seen in the show. Since there are a lot of medical dramas currently on air, New Amsterdam has some work to do to stand out. After watching the pilot episode, I’m hopeful that the rest of the season will be just as fun and fast paced.

Charmed

The Charmed reboot will be airing on October 14th but you can watch the trailer now to get a sense of it. Basically, three sisters come together to find out that they’re witches. They have to figure out how to use their powers whilst finding out what happened to their mother. Since it is a reboot, I wonder how much of the original storyline they’ll keep and how they’re going to modernize the show. To catch the first episode of Charmed, tune in on October 14th on the CW network.

Happy Together

This is a show that I’m so excited to watch! The trailer was hilarious and quirky. I love the idea of this show’s plot and I’m hoping it does well. Another reason why Happy Together has me intrigued is because Harry Styles is one of the producers. One of the main characters, Cooper James, who is a well-known rock star in the show was slightly modelled off Harry Styles. This new comedy aired on October 1st and you can watch it on Global TV.

Overall, I think this year’s new shows are pretty great! The best thing is that there are tons more to come in the next year!
