In Canada, Thanksgiving is notorious for its amazing food, but there is so much more to this holiday that I want to highlight.

Here is why Thanksgiving is important:

You get to slow down

Thanksgiving allows you to slow down, visit family and old friends, and really relax. For a few days you get to spend time with the people that matter the most to you, while letting go of the stressors that school/work brings.

It puts life in perspective

Thanksgiving shows you that the most important things in life are free. The people in your life that truly care about you is what matters most. Everything else, like money, expensive clothes, or any other materialistic things, really doesn’t matter at the end of the day.

The food

It wouldn’t be a Thanksgiving article if the amazing food was not addressed! Turkey, mash potatoes, gravy, and my personal favourite: STUFFING! Everyone bonds over how delicious the food is every year, and it just brings people that much closer.

It allows you to create your own family

Many people do not have a family to celebrate with during Thanksgiving, but as you get older you start to create your own family. Having a Thanksgiving dinner with close friends is so fun and equally special

So there you have it! That is why Thanksgiving is important. Be grateful for everything that life has offered you. Show appreciation for your friends and family this Thanksgiving!
