The Screen Actors Guild awards (SAG) is an event that honours performances by actors, actresses and ensembles in film and television. This event was one with many firsts including Nicole Kidman’s first ever SAG award. Kidman received the best outstanding female actress in a limited series, “Big Little Lies”. She got choked up noting that this moment meant so much to her because she has been acting since she was fourteen years old. She thanked all the actors and actresses who have inspired her over the years and went on to say “We’ve proven – and these actresses and so many more have proven – we are potent and powerful and viable. I just beg that the industry stays behind us because our stories are finally being told. It’s only the beginning.”
Another big first was Sterling K. Brown winning best male actor for his drama series “This is us”, becoming the first black man to win in that category. He professed his love and appreciation to the cast, thanking them for their support and constant love. Sterling also thanked his peers in the room and his beautiful wife who were so unbelievably happy for his win.
Our favorite Disney princess, Kristen Bell, hosted the SAG awards this year. She had a few different outfits, and of course, rocked them all! On the carpet, Kristen wore a beautiful strapless pink dress.
While hosting the awards, she wore black with crystals that ran down her low v-lined dress.
During his acceptance of his lifetime achievement award, Morgan Freeman shut down an annoying chatterbox sitting in the front row during his speech. Yikes! That was awkward.

Alison Brie addressed the James Franco allegation. The ‘L.A. Times’ recently detailed sexual misconduct against Franco and he responded denying these accusations (E! News). Alison Brie, Franco’s sister-in-law says, “I support my family – and not everything that has been reported on is fully accurate – we are waiting to get all the information.” Franco also attended the SAG awards although he did not walk the red carpet but was spotted in the audience. This marked his first public appearance since the report.
