This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at York U chapter.

It’s the end of the school year and some of you may be staying in Toronto during the summer break. If you are looking for things to do in Toronto on a budget or maybe just free activities to do with your friends, I am here to give you five things to do in Toronto when you’re broke.

Explore this conservatory this summer with your friends. The flower displays are amazing here. I definitely recommend visiting Allan Gardens if you love nature. Admission is free along with limited parking.

Visit the Art Gallery of Ontario and take a look at the beautiful artwork

Artwork is always beautiful. AGO has a ton of amazing artwork to look at. If you enjoy looking at art pieces, AGO is free on Wednesday nights from 6pm to 9pm. I personally would love to visit this summer because there are amazing artists in the city and also from all over the world that are featured at AGO.

Take some Instagram pics at Graffiti Alley

The famous Graffiti Alley is one of the most popular places in Toronto to take the best pictures. Located at Rush Lane just south of Queen Street, you can look at the display of the city’s most talented graffiti artists. I definitely plan on visiting on a beautiful summer day.

Sit in at a criminal trial at one of the courthouses in the city

I am a big crime show fan. So sitting in a criminal trial would be a very interesting experience. If you love shows like Law & Order: SVU and have always wanted to witness a trial, you can try the Superior Court of Justice located at 361 University Ave this summer! It’d be interesting witnessing how intense a trail can be.

Get a good chuckle at a comedy show at Chuckle Co.

Everyone needs a good laugh once in awhile. Chuckle Co. (Comedy Bar) located at 945 Bloor St. W, is only $5 on Wednesday nights at 5:30pm. If you want to listen to Toronto’s best comedians, this is the place to go.

There are plenty of things to do in Toronto if you are on a budget or just have no spending money. Don’t worry! Toronto can always be a fun city to be in during the summer with your friends or significant other. We all deserve to have a good (affordable) summer after a long school year.
