Visiting Nashville should be on everyone’s bucket list. It’s the kind of place people write songs about (just listen to Jason Aldean’s “Crazy Town”), and people come visit from all over the world. Nashville has something for everyone, and, because it is located just about four and a half hours south of Xavier, is the perfect getaway for you and your friends! From a local’s perspective, here are the top things you must do and see while in Nashville!

Walk Down Broadway

One of the most famous parts of Nashville is Broadway: a road lined with restaurants, tourist shops, and honky tonks, which are bars with live country music playing constantly. At night, this road is lit up, and is also a great place to people watch.  If you’re visiting Nashville, walking up and down Broadway and honky tonk-hopping is a must.

Learn to Line Dance At Wildhorse Saloon

Located on 2nd Avenue, The Wildhorse Saloon is both a local and tourist favorite. They have live music, good food (try the fried pickles), and hourly line dancing lessons. Tip: Get there before 6:00 PM to avoid a cover charge!

Eat At The Pharmacy

For the best burgers and cream soda in town, you must make a stop at The Pharmacy. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very cool, and the food is amazing!

Tour The Parthenon

You may not know it, but Nashville is often referred to as “The Athens of the South”! Located in Centennial Park, the Parthenon is a full size replica of the one in Greece, complete with a 42-foot statue of Athena inside.

Go To a Concert

There’s a reason they call Nashville “Music City”! While in town, see a show at or take a tour of the Grand Ole Opry, known as “country’s most famous stage,” or The Ryman, known as “the mother church of country music.”  If country music isn’t your thing, there are concerts of just about every genre happening around town all the time!

Try Hot Chicken

Hot chicken is a Nashville specialty, so stop by Hattie B’s or Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack to see what all of the fuss is about.

Hang Out At The Pinewood Social

One of the coolest places to hang out in Nashville is The Pinewood Social – a lounge, restaurant, bar, bowling alley, and pool! While this sounds like a random combination, it has a very vintage and hipster feel to it and was featured in Easton Corbin’s music video for “Baby Be My Love Song.”

Experience Tennessee Sports

There is nothing quite like football time in Tennessee or game day in Smashville.  Nashville has two big sports teams: their hockey team, the Nashville Predators, and their football team, the Tennessee Titans. Tennesseans love their sports teams, so any game is sure to be a good time, win or lose.

See The Sky Line

The Nashville skyline is beautiful, especially lit up at night! The two best places to see it are the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge and Love Circle.
