HER Poetry: Forgive and Forget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

They say

“It’s for the best.”

They say

“It makes things easier.”

They say

“It’s the best policy.”

Well, I say

They are wrong.

“Forgive and forget”

It’s not a package deal.

You don’t forgive to forget.

You forgive to accept.

You forgive because

Your heart is gold.

You don’t forget to forgive.

You forget to move on.

You forget because

Your future is bright.

“Forgive and forget.”

Are two separate things.

You don’t have to do both.

Forgive and remember.

Forget and resent.

At some point all will be forgotten.

At some point all will be forgiven.

But doing both together is unnecessary.
