5 DIY Couple’s Costumes You May Already Own

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

It’s fall again. Which means we’ll be drinking pumpkin spice lattes and picking apples until our heart’s content. It also means we’ll soon have to mad dash to come up with Halloween costumes. For those of us with partners, this becomes increasingly difficult as you not only have to find one, but two, costumes to wear out to whatever Halloween party your friend-of-a-friend is throwing. Another issue Halloween costumes pose is budget. And, if your like me, a broke college student, your limited to what’s in your (or your roommate’s) closet. But have no fear! I have taken the hard part out of finding a costume and compiled a list of costumes you probably already have the materials to make so you can go back to a stress free fall.

1. Jim and Pam from The Office

What better way to not only show allegiance to one of the greatest shows of all time, but to also show all your friends how cute you and your partner are. Jim and Pam have a large repertoire of outfits to choose from, so make it your own and make Scranton proud!

2. Beer Pong

Hear me out, you don’t need to be as extra as the photo above. You can half-ass this one with hot glue, old shirts, spare solo cups, and a sharpie and still be the costume to beat at your Halloween party.

3. Bob and Linda from Bob’s Burgers

This is as easy as it gets folks! You just need a few basic t-shirts, a spatula, and some aprons and you’ve got yourself a cute little couple costume and an excuse to get burgers for dinner!

4. Burt Macklin and Janet Snakehole from Parks and Rec

Most girls own a little black dress, and this would be the perfect opportunity to take it out of the closet and put it to good use! For Macklin’s jacket just DIY some FBI logos out of construction paper and tape onto a bomber jacket for one of the quickest homemade costumes you’ll find.

5. Anyone from the Scooby Doo gang

This is the most versatile look on the list. You could go as any combination of members from the Scooby gang and have all your friends saying “zoinks” because they didn’t think of that. Whoever you choose to go out as is as easy as looking through your closet or buying basic items from the store, so I’d call that a mystery solved.
