Smart, Sassy AND Beautiful? Meet Kennaah, the Lady That has it all

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WWU chapter.

Meet Kennaah Martin! (19)

Pronounced, Ken-aye-uh, this beauty can be found studying or listening to poetry at the Underground Cafe in the VU! This lady had a heart of gold and a wonderfully peaceful outlook on life. If you don’t know her, you’re missing out!

1) What are you studying? What do you hope to major in?

I’m studying a variety of things at the moment to get a feel for what’s out there. However, I hope to major in Theater with a minor in Creative writing.

2) If you have any advice for your fellow students, what would it be?

My advice would be to learn how to balance work and play, as well as taking accountability for yourself. It’s different then high school; you could always find someone to blame for your mistakes in high school, but you can’t do that in college. You also need to find a healthy balance so that you can set yourself up for success!

3) If you could change anything about your life what would it be?

I honestly wouldn’t change anything about my life because everything that led up to this point, is something that shaped me as a person. I wouldn’t trade those experiences and challenges and trials for anything. They made me strong, they made me who I am.

4) What kinds of activities are you involved in/hope to be involved in?

I am currently not involved in to many school activities. I am doing my own thing at this time. I have a blog that I post on once a week that ranges in a multitude of topics. http://kennaahmartin.blogspot.com/ I am also an Herbalife health coach, so I’ve been dedicating a lot of my time to that. I’m very happy with how things are going right now, and I may join something later but who knows.

5) What’s your favorite quality about yourself?

My favorite quality about myself…I would have to say is my level of self control. I’m always in control of what I say to people, I never hit below the belt and I always keep my cool in aggravated situations. It’s a quality im really thankful for!

6) What is a hobby or skill that you have?

I think a good skill that I have is that I’m good at communicating with people, which goes great with my favorite hobby, being writing. I love to write fiction, supernatural fiction specifically. But I also write poetry, really anything I’m in the mood for.

7) What’s one food you could live off of for the rest of your life?

One food I could live off of for the rest of my life is a dish called enchilada casserole. It’s something my mom makes; the first time was an accident and we just kept doing it because it’s delicious!

8) If you could live anywhere where would it be?

If I could live anywhere, I would want to live in New Orleans, Louisiana. My mom is from there and I hear about it being such a lively place with amazing food and beautiful accents and loads of culture and I would love to be a part of that.

9) are you a dog or a cat person?

I like dogs and cats, but I own a dog and she’s my favorite animal in general!

10) What is your favorite genre of music?

I don’t really have a favorite genre of music, however my favorite era for music is the 90’s with some from the 50’s and up. I like old school artists and a few new, but mostly old stuff. Like Kool and the Gang, Frankie Lymon, The Temptations, New Edition, Boyz 2 Men, Mary J. Blige, Sam Cooke, Luther Vandross, artists that sing about something meaningful.
