Monea Kerr: The KINDest Girl on Campus!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WWU chapter.

Look for the friendly smile of Monea Kerr, the newest KIND University Ambassador on Western’s campus! Recently hired on for the new school year, she works to help kindness flourish at WWU. Not only does she bring the KIND name to our students, but she also participates in acts of kindness in order to live up to the brand’s name.

Working with KIND has already brought so many great opportunities to meet new people, which I would say is one of my favorite things to do in this world,” Kerr said. “I love making peoples’ days by giving them a KIND bar and allowing them to try ones that they never had before. It’s a super fun position that I feel lucky to have!” she said.

Kerr will be attending a multitude of Western’s clubs, organizations, sports teams and so much more this year. She works to create a mutually beneficial relationship with whatever organization she is working with at the time she said.

She will also occasionally be sampling KIND products, in which she says she will be running around with a duffle bag of snacks to offer to whoever is on campus at the time. Kerr explains that there is a wide variety of KIND snacks, but she has a favorite that she suggests everyone should try.

My absolute favorite is the Caramel Macchiato Healthy Grains Bar. It’s delicious and even has some coffee in it too!” she said. “I also personally like the Healthy Grains Bars because they are chewy with a crunch, are gluten free, non-GMO, and have 5 super-grains including oats, millet, quinoa, amaranth and buckwheat. I’d recommend these to fellow students because they are a perfect on the go snack!

Kerr will be all over campus, whether it is running around with her duffle bag, or tabling at an on-campus event. She encourages people to stop and say hi if they ever see her on the go.

I’m going to try and table at as many events as possible, so always be on the lookout!” she said. “I have partnerships with multiple groups on campus, so it will be hard to miss me if I’m at one of their events!”

After she plans to graduate in spring 2017, Kerr can imagine herself continuing to be a part of the KIND family. In the mean time she works hard at her double major in Communication studies and Journalism.

About once a month, Kerr says that she carves out time to attend to her lifestyle of being an avid concert goer. She also enjoys kicking it with some friends and “chefin’ it up.”

When asked about words of inspiration for freshmen: Kerr responded, “My personal words of inspiration for new freshmen on campus are just go with it! College is such a fun yet weird time. I know it sounds cliché, but do what you want to do and work on finding yourself. Join a club, take up a new hobby, listen to silly music, hang out with new people… College will pass you by if you don’t take advantage of your time here!

Next time you attend a WWU event or see Monea roaming around on campus, flash her smile and offer up a hello. As the KINDest girl on campus, Monea can’t wait to see what’s in store this year for KIND at Western.
