Fall Fashion Transitions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

As the leaves are changing, so should your wardrobe! But bundling up doesn’t have to mean covering up your style! Check out these fall fashion trends so you can rock your autumn style:

1. Fall Colors

It’s time to pack up the pastels and embrace the colors of the season! During the fall, the colors darken into a richer, more vibrant tone. The trendiest colors tend to follow the change of the leaves. So experiment with different shades of brown, dark green, red, orange and yellow for a fabulous fall look!

2. Layering

Layering is not only a convenient way to add some extra warmth, but it is a great way to make an outfit more interesting! For some added fun, try layering a pattern underneath a solid, mixing textures, or mixing some great fall colors!

3. Boots

No fall outfit is complete without the perfect pair of boots. While boots give you stability with some extra warmth, booties can take the place of pumps without drawing attention away from your leg line. The key is to have fun with colors and lengths (knee-high is preferred). Another fun way to spice up your boots is to try out the new trend of boot socks! They are toasty and adorable!

4. Gloves

Don’t forget to keep your hands warm! If you hate having to peel off your mittens just to check your phone or turn a page, try a great pair of fingerless gloves for warmth and function!

5. Statement Jewelry

Because everyone is bundling up, be sure to break out your bolder jewelry for the colder months. They make great add-ons for simple sweaters and they are eye-catching when peaking through a great jacket! Just be sure not to overdo it. If you are wearing bold necklace, for instance, keep the earrings to studs; if you love a chunky bracelet, save the flashy rings for another day, and so on.

6. Hats

Whether you prefer a cozy beanie or a wide brim to keep the sun out of your eyes, hats are classically stylish. Just remember that hats are a statement, so if you are going to rock one all day, let it be the star of the show.

7. Scarves

What is the number one accessory for fall? It’s a scarf! Nothing else will give you the perfect combination of warmth and style. Not to mention the huge variety of options! Add it to any basic for a splash of personality!

8. Sweater Dresses

While you can always pair your normal dresses and skirts with a jacket and leggings, a true statement of fall fashion is the sweater dress. Depending on the thickness of the material, it can be worn with or without and jacket and varying necklines give you a range from V-necks to turtlenecks.

So, remember to stay cozy and stylish this autumn!

Stay classy, ladies!

I am adopted from Russia and was raised in West Virginia. I am a double major in English (Writing Concentration) and Musical Theatre. I love art in many different forms be it writing, singing, acting, drawing/painting, or design. I adore fashion and it has helped me become the person that I want to be in life. I am a very open person and love talking to people, so feel free to ask me anything! I am honored to be a part of the Her Campus team and I hope that my writing will bring you a smile. If I'm not in the theater or typing up my version of the great American fashion column, you can always hear me coming from the click of my heels. My advice to all: Stay classy!
