Coming Soon: the Scorch Trials

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

Post-apocalyptic movies are in full swing right now. They’ve been gaining popularity for the last few years, and there’s no sign of them stopping soon. Movies about young teenagers saving the world (and often times, themselves) as they fight the evils the adults in these worlds have created—what more could you ask for? I’m sure a few different movies popped into your head as you read that. This week’s blog is about one film in particular, Maze Runner: Scorch Trials.

With a talented young leads like Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf), Kaya Scodelario (Skins UK) and Thomas Brody-Sangster (Love, Actually) you can almost guarantee this movie will be a hit. I’ll be running to the theater to see this film, and you should too.

“But why? I’m so over post-apocalyptic movies…”

I hear you, and I would agree in some cases, but when it comes to books and movies about people in my age demographic (16-25), I’m all eyes and ears for anything—especially when the people my age are saving the world or bringing down a corrupt system of government.

If that doesn’t convince you to run out and spend $7 on a movie ticket and some food, maybe this will: this is the second film in a book series of five (so far), and when films don’t do well at the box office, the producers stop paying to make new films. In other words, if this film doesn’t do well, we might not get a third, fourth or fifth! Don’t wait for it to come to DVD; take a friend, buy some popcorn and enjoy this film!

Be sure to look for Maze Runner: Shorch Trials in theaters this Friday, September 18!

Turn off your phone, grab some snacks and enjoy!
