The holidays can leave us feeling all kinds of ways. Finals and Christmas shopping leave us feeling stressed and broke while the smell of pine and sounds of holiday tunes make us feel merry and bright. Whichever mood you find yourself in, I have the perfect movie match for you!

Feeling Scroogey?

You’re totally not in the Christmas spirit for whatever reason. You’re counting down the days to your last final or you’re going through a pre-holiday breakup. Here’s your cinematic cure:

A Christmas Carol

You’ll start off relating with Scrooge’s “bah humbug” attitude and by the end you’ll be rooting for his newfound happiness and crying tears of joy that Tiny Tim isn’t dead!

Feeling Like a Kid?

Reality? Adulthood? Student Loans? Nahh, you’re feeling like you belong in another world where nothing matters other than Christmas. That’s why you need to watch:

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Jim Carrey’s facial expressions alone will leave you giggling and before you know it, you’ll be attempting to get your hair to stand up like Cindy Lou Who’s.

Feeling Out of place?

You just feel left out, different, and alone. Try this:

Fred Claus

You can’t possibly feel more left out, different, and alone than Santa Claus’ average Joe brother. Can you say black sheep?

Feeling Unloved?

You just got dumped or that professor you thought loved you gave you a D on your final paper. If your heart is broken this holiday season, then you need:

Home Alone

His parents literally forgot about him in like every movie. You can’t get any more unloved than that I mean come on.

Feeling Magical?

Are you believing in the magic this holiday season? Then you need to watch:

The Santa Clause

This movie will make you feel like anything’s possible. After all, Tim Allen becomes Santa Claus by default!

BONUS: If you’re feeling extra single, watching The Santa Clause 2 will give you hope that if you meet the right man, you may find yourself becoming Mrs. Claus one day!

Feeling like taking a History Lesson?

We all have so many questions about Santa Claus. Why the red suit? Why chimneys? Why “Ho Ho Ho”? Grab a notebook and watch:

Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town

It’s basically an animated, musical biography of Kris Kringle himself featuring the prettiest Mrs. Claus I’ve ever seen. She was also a normal girl who met the right guy! Am I the only one with #MrsClausGoals?

Feeling hungry?

This one isn’t technically a holiday movie but you’ll find it on TV a lot around this time of year:

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

The original version, people! For some reason, the way the actors eat the candy makes it look so delicious. It’s like I can taste the chocolately goodness of those Wonka bars. And how about that super detailed description of the three-course dinner gum? If your stomach isn’t growling by the end of that movie, then I must be the only one who feels this way . . .

Feeling like sitting by the fire, sipping a hot cocoa, wrapping yourself in garland, and wearing a Santa hat?

If you are in the highest level of Christmas spirit then you have to watch the movie all about having Christmas spirit!

The Polar Express

What a classic! I usually watch this wondering how Tom Hanks managed to play like every part in that movie and by the end, I’m sitting on my porch waiting for the train to come pick me up.

Feeling overwhelmingly overjoyed about Christmas that you’re walking the fine line between being cute and being annoying?

Elf is the movie for you, my friend!

You may be annoying every single Scrooge around you but one thing’s for sure, you’ve got the Christmas spirit!
