The 12 Customers Every Retail Worker Will Meet This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

For every good customer there is a bad one. Anyone who has worked in retail has come across customers that seem to emerge from the seventh circle of hell. They’re awful and make you consider quitting your job. This holiday season we definitely will be seeing them.

The customer that enters the store 1 minute before closing time.

The customer that complains about every little thing.

The customer that thinks something should be free because the item didn’t scan.

The customer that always asks what the discounts are: Look around there are signs everywhere. No sign= no discounts.

Then of course there’s the customer that :

Asks you to hold a bunch of items that they tried on but were too lazy to return to their original spot.

Customers that leave the fitting rooms messy.

Customers that mess up an entire pile for one size. These customers refuse your help despite not knowing what they’re doing or where you’re going. I see you wandering aimlessly. I see you having difficulty finding your size. I saw you mess up that entire pile of clothes that I just fixed seconds ago let me help you. Let me help you.

Customers that tell you their whole life story. Please stop. I’m not your therapist. This is uncomfortable. Please get help.

Customers that try to tell you how to do your job. I’m sorry did you go through the training sessions, did you fill out my resume and do the interview. No? then please stop giving unsolicited advice. Be blessed.

Finally, The customer with the attitude. As soon as they step foot in the store they’re already giving you an attitude. They’re the one’s that rush you despite making a big purchase. They complain about every little thing and expect you to brush it off and give them a discount.
