My Favorite YouTube Workout Videos During Quarantine

These are trying times right now. All of us are going through so much change and adjustment with what is happening in the world. By no means is this the time to feel like you need to get fit or you need to do intense workouts because the main focus these days should be maintaining and focusing on mental health, whatever that means to you! But I happen to find that working out and doing these online videos helps to give me energy and feel good about myself, so if you are looking to add in some exercise or change up your workout, try one of these.

The first videos that I love to hate and hate to love are Chloe Ting’s HIIT workouts. All of them I find to be incredibly effective/painful in the moment, and leave me drenched in sweat. The best one I’ve done so far is her “Intense Full Body Workout.” It’s about 30 minutes long and supposedly burns about 400 calories. In this video, there are moves like burpees with a tuck jump, jump lunges, skater hops, etc., and it’s pretty brutal. I’m convinced my family thinks I need medical attention when I’m doing this video because it makes me heave. But it’s so effective! HIIT workouts are extremely intense, yet they allow you to get a quality workout in a relatively short amount of time and also combine cardio and strength training. This one will bust your booty but will make you feel so strong after! And the best part is, the more you do these the “easier” they get. I wouldn’t do HIIT everyday because your body needs time to heal and recover from the intensity, but you should safely be able to do it up to 3 times a week.

The second video I highly recommend is an arm workout! This one is off of Cassey Ho’s Blogilates channel. Basically, all of the online workouts I do are either Chloe Ting or Blogilates, as I find the exercises they do to be diverse, challenging, and effective. This arm video is called “Quick Burn Arms.” When I was younger, I never used to do weightless arm workouts because I didn’t know they existed! I was skeptical when doing this video for the first time for that exact reason. I thought it would be too easy and a waste of time. Boy, was I wrong! My arms burn by the end of it, hence the name. Some of the moves included are shoulder pulses, prayer pulses and back behinds. It mainly is targeting the shoulders, but still incorporates other arm muscles/back too! And the best part is that it is just over 7 minutes, so super easy to fit in!

The last video on this list has to be Chloe Ting’s “Get Abs in Two Weeks” video! I am currently doing it as a part of her 2 week shred program, but it’s a workout I will continue to use even after that’s over. As far as abs go, I normally don’t follow a video and just do my own workout, but this one I think gives a wide range of ab moves that work upper, lower, and obliques. It’s very versatile and requires keeping a tight core to effectively do the moves, which is the whole point! A few of my favorite moves are Russian twists, in and outs and up and down planks. It’s about 11 minutes long and consists of 21 exercises. I think one of the key things that makes it so effective is the lack of long rest times between movements and the number of different moves contained in it. 10/10 recommend doing this one, even if it’s just as an energy boost!

There are many more workout videos I love to do, but these are three of my favorites! They are great supplements for the gym right now when we don’t have gym access. Next time you workout, try out one I’ve listed, and hopefully you like it as much as I do!
