Hey ladies! Well it’s quite obvious all of us in college are in dire need of some cash flow from the extensive expenses of tuition and textbooks, not to mention, Pitaya, Urban Outfitters, drunk-food runs, alcohol etc. Literally, I think I call my bank operator to inform me of my account balance more than I call my own mom. So, I have come up with some thoughtful strategies to get that monayy back in our pockets…take a look!
Call me cheap, but I think these ideas are quite advantageous!
- Donate Plasma
If you weigh over 110 lbs. and can handle needles, seriously donate your plasma! You can be promised to earn $40 + depending on where you go to donate. It’s a quick easy to earn some cash, plus you are helping those in need at the same time! A plasma center is even right here on Gorham Street (right by State Street)…get your big girl panties on and donate!
- Disguise Your Shots
If you are having a party or an early pregame at your apartment, pour very cheap alcohol into a “classier”, more expensive labeled bottle. This way your cheap alcohol looks as if it is the actual nicer alcohol. Then, charge for shots from this disguised bottle; you’ll be sure to get people to pay for it even though it’s worth less than what they are anticipating. One of my roommates did this and earned double the amount this alcohol was actually worth! This may sound a little shiesty, but you gotta do what you gotta do to have money to pay for those textbooks!
- Make Mifflin Shirts
If you are a creative lady and can design well, make some super cute Mifflin tanks to sell to friends and peers. Charge an extra few bucks per shirt and that way you can earn a little profit for yourself!
- Sign-Up for a Research Study
Since UW is a research institute, there are many opportunities for students to partake in to earn some money. There are a range of different research studies from different departments on campus. I signed up for one last year that paid me $140! All I had to do was visit the hospital four times within three months and eat fruit for a month! Seriously, don’t hesitate to sign-up for a research study and plus, it helps researchers learn new things!
- Offer to Do People’s Laundry
Offering to do people’s laundry or other tedious chores like cleaning dishes can really help you make some money! You would be surprised of how many people are willing to pay $2 or $3 to someone so they don’t have to do the chores. One of my friends does this and it goes toward her weekend funds so she doesn’t have to touch her bank account…try it!
- Sell Bakes Goods on State Street
Thursday, Friday or Saturday night stand out on State Street selling baked goods, pizzas or really anything…I promise you someone highly intoxicated stumbling down the sidewalk will stop to buy some treats. Don’t forget the BUDDY SYSTEM though; do this with a friend to make sure no one hassles you!
- Get a Job
When all else fails, just go get a job. There are so many on and off-campus jobs seeking students like us to apply for. From the ones I have looked into, most jobs pay more than minimum wage…can’t complain about that!
So there you have it, how to get monayyy in Madison! Although some of these ideas may seem a little pathetic, call it as you may…I think these ideas will work and bring in the cash flow! Best of luck ladies, work hard!
