Let’s be honest, when December rolls around, all you really want to do is sit under a blanket and drink hot chocolate while watching it snow outside. However, your wish to just enjoy the holidays is cut short by the four finals, two term papers and group project that all need your attention — we’ve all been there. While finals season definitely puts a damper on the holiday season, there are still ways to survive one while enjoying the other.

1. Decorate your dorm or apartment

Even if all of your time is spent studying, at least you can do it surrounded by holiday cheer. Hanging up string lights or putting up a small tree can make your dorm or apartment ready for the holidays!

2. Listen to Christmas music

One of the best ways to get in the holiday spirit is listening to Christmas music while walking to class or cleaning your apartment. Plus, Christmas music is great for studying, making it perfect for finals season.

3. Watch holiday movies

Even during finals, it’s important to take a break from studying, and there’s no better way to do it than to watch Christmas movies with your friends. Classics, like It’s a Wonderful Life or comedies like Home Alone, are a great way to get ready for the holidays while taking a necessary break from schoolwork.

4. Bake cookies

Nothing says that it’s the holidays like baking cookies. Get your friends together to enjoy a stress-free night of baking. Not only is it a good way to prepare for the holidays, but Christmas cookies make a great snack when you’re staying up late to study.

5. Do Secret Santa

Secret Santa is a fun and low-cost way to celebrate the holidays with your friends and family. Instead of getting gifts for everyone, choose one person to buy a present for. You can take it seriously, or choose to do gag gifts for everyone!

Finals are stressful for all students, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the holidays as well. Use these tips to have fun during the holidays while also acing your finals!
