We all know that Beyoncé is Queen, and Kayne thinks he’s God, but there are some amazing artists that never get any of the glory. Many of the most talented musicians live in the background. Here are seven that made my life just a little bit better.
1. The Cab
Okay maybe I’m a little biased on this one because the lead singer, Alexander Deleon, is the love of my life, but this band has lyrics that will drive you wild. Their alternative rock feel will have you dancing around your room in your underwerar. You’ve likely heard “Bad” or “La La,” but take a listen to some of their other stuff– you won’t be disappointed.
2. RIXTON
This British pop band is more than just easy on the eyes. Currently, you’ll find these dreamy men touring with Ariana Grande and soon to be openning for Ed Sheeran’s tour. You’ve probably heard “Me and My Broken Heart,” but if you want to catch a case of the feels, listen to “Hotel Ceiling.”
3. This Wild Life
A little punk, a little alternative rock and a little bit of heaven. This band reminds me of my middle school years which mostly consisted of All Time Low. This Wild Life is such a wonderful throwback and their lyrics are so relatable; “Puppy Love” and “No More Bad Days” are my personal favorites.
4. Kiernan McMullan
Once again, I am totally biased because I have met this wonderful human a few times and his loving personality just makes his music that much better. There is something to be said about artists that genuinely care about their fans and he is for sure one of those musicians. Listen to his latest single “I Can’t Sit Still,” you won’t be disappointed.
5. Ben Rector
I’m not entirely sure when I discovered this gem, but I am sure it was one of the best moments of my life. His very chill vibe makes him the perfect choice for a study session. His lyrics will touch your soul and inspire you on days when all you want to do is curl up and eat a pint of ice cream. I suggest “She Is” and “Beautiful.”
6. You Me At Six
This band is definitely the perfect embodiment of an alt rock band. It’s the kind of music you scream along to at the top of your lungs. “Cold Night” has been on repeat for weeks now…. not to mention the lead singer is beyond beautiful.
7. He Is We
Unfortunately, this wonderful band isn’t making music anymore, but they have left us with enough outstanding raw and relatable music to last a long, long time. From happy love songs, to wallowing in self pity, He Is We is bound to improve your playlists and make you seem super hipster at parties.
Listen to these bands and you’re sure to catch the bug of explorin the world of music beyond America’s Top 40. You just might find your life (or at least mindset) completely changed by the time you get to the end of your brand new playlist.
