The winter holiday season has always been a widely-celebrated time of year that tons of people look forward to. 2020 has definitely caused huge changes in everyone’s lives and, sadly, this will include the over-commercialized holiday season for this year as well. Although this holiday will be different, there are still so many ways to still enjoy this special time with family and friends!

Online Black Friday shopping

This crazy holiday is known for the insane amount of people who come out to shop on the day after Thanksgiving. A total of 84.2 million shoppers came out last year, according to blackfriday.com staff. Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday also bring in tons of money for businesses. Although there is no news of Black Friday being cancelled, it is probably safer this year to take a Cyber Monday approach and do all of your Black Friday shopping online. Support your local businesses too for Small Business Saturday and see if you can shop with them online as well!

Write a letter to Santa

To all the kids looking forward to sitting on Santa’s lap and telling him what they want for Christmas, Santa may not be coming this year. Of course, he’ll still come to deliver with a mask on, but to keep everyone safe and healthy, they might need to tell Santa their requests through a letter and send it to the North Pole!

Anything Outdoors!

The good thing about living in a state that snows during the holiday season is there are so many fun, outdoor activities to participate in! Such snowy activities include sledding, building snowmen, snowball fights, ice skating, skiing and more. All of these things can still be done while social distancing!

Drive-thru Christmas lights

Certain cities put up holiday light displays each year. People can put their families and friends in a car and pay a small fee to drive through and see the light show. This Christmas tradition is perfectly coronavirus safe and a nice, holiday outing to enjoy with your family!

Online Donations

The Christmas season has always been known as a time of giving. Either giving gifts to your family and friends, helping out families in need to make their Christmas special or simply putting donations in the donation boxes. Certain donation boxes, such as the Salvation Army, usually pop up around Christmas time in populated areas to make it easy for people to donate. But because of COVID-19 this year, who knows if there will be as many boxes out for people to give to charity? It is important to remember this year that more people are definitely struggling because of a loss of jobs, deaths in the family, etc. While keeping this in mind, take some time this year to look up how to donate to a cause online!

The holiday season this year will definitely be different, but if we all try our best to follow the health guidelines and keep everyone safe, there are still many ways that we can enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!
