4 Wallet Friendly Workout Clothes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

I, like many other people, told myself that this was the year that I was gonna finally start consistently going to the gym. After being a two sport athlete all through high school, I’m used to living an active lifestyle. But after getting to college, I realized I didn’t have afternoon practices to keep me moving. After scrolling through some of the main workout websites such as Lululemon and Athleta, I immediately knew that this wasn’t gonna work out for my workout. With leggings prices at $99 and shirts upwards of $50, this definitely was not the answer I was searching for. So instead, I found some good quality alternatives that won’t shatter your fitness dreams before they even start.

Icyzone Workout Tank Tops For Women –  Racerback

These tops are a great option if you’re looking for a classic racerback workout top. These tops can be found on Amazon (and Amazon Prime) where you can get 3 tank tops for only $19.99. Not only are they lightweight and great for all workouts, I’ve yet to have an issue with any sweat stains (which is always a plus).

Colorful Koala Leggings

Here’s yet another one of my amazon favorites, but this time, for leggings. These leggings are best for yoga classes or days when you’re doing weights or abs. They’re thick enough to not be see-through but also not too thick where you’re going to get overheated in them. I’ve yet to have an issue with them slipping down and they’re also probably the softest pair of leggings I own. You can buy them on Amazon (including Amazon prime) for only $22.99 a pair, which sounds way better than $99 to me.

Target’s Workout Section

This might not be a specific article of clothing, however, if you’re looking for Nike or other big name athletic brands, this is a great place to look. I’m not sure why I didn’t start buying workout clothes from Target earlier. They often have sales and lots of options for sports bras, shorts, leggings, and all your workout essentials. So, you can buy a high quality workout outfit while getting your weekly groceries.

Outdoor Voices Kits

These are definitely the most expensive pieces on my list. I’ve always heard of Outdoor Voices but hadn’t bought anything from them until recently. What I enjoy about this website is their kits. The kits for women include a pair of leggings and a sports bra and if you sign up as a college student (which is free!) you can get big discounts sitewide, as well as these “kits” for $75. While $75 is still pretty pricey, personally, I’d rather get a quality pair of leggings and a sports bra for less than one pair of leggings for $99 or more. My personal favorite is the “Women’s Tech Kit” since I’m an avid spin class attendee.

I hope some of these pieces, or just reading about them, inspire you to get out there and find your favorite way to get active! Whether it’s yoga, weight lifting, or throwing a frisbee with friends, exercising is always better while wearing a comfortable (and affordable!) outfit.
