The past few months have not been working in my favor. I have been constantly stressed and depressed to the point where it started to affect my overall health. A little over a week ago, however, I received one of those manifestation Tik Toks. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s basically just a TikTok with a positive message like, “Prepare yourself for tomorrow because it’s going to be amazing.” The overall goal of these posts is to get people to “interact” with them, such as sharing and commenting, for the message to come true. Kind of like in the sense of if you make a wish on a shooting star, you can’t tell anyone what you wished for, or it won’t come true.

My friend sent me one of these videos, which was out of the blue for his character. He’s the kind of person to talk down on astrology and crystals, which was weird for him to send me a video to do with manifestation. When he sent me this TikTok, I was having the worst weekend emotionally and physically. By the worst I mean that I was considering dropping out of college. The video went along the lines of “good days will come” or something along those messages (the TikTok was deleted so I don’t know what it said). I ignored it, because it was not like him to send those kinds of videos. I thought he was just messing with me in that sense. The days following receiving the message were the most positive days I’ve had in months. This got me to thinking, does it work?

I fell victim to manifestation TikTok at the end of last year. At the time, I had a liking towards a boy and was “manifesting” it to work out, so I was constantly interacting with this type of content. When the relationship fell through, I gave up on using that type of tactic to encourage myself. I know I used it in a selfish way, which defeats the whole purpose. But for the past week, my friend and I have been sending every kind of manifestation video to each other that pops up on our feed. By having a better outlook on what these videos are trying to represent, I believe I’ve been getting more positive feedback. Since then, I’ve had some of the best days that I’ve had in a while, and I hope to keep the cycle going.

Even though this tactic works for me, I know it’s not for everyone. It’s not easy to believe what strangers say on the internet. Especially when it comes to helping with your daily life. I don’t know much about spirituality, but I have learned that when you approach it with a positive mindset, you get better results. While I was using this resource with a negative mindset, I did not get any of the results that I wanted. To be more precise, I got the results that I’d hope for, but they didn’t last. I know it sounds like something silly to believe in but using this outlet has better helped my mental health and my overall living on life. So, it works for me, and I hope whoever uses it works for them too.
