Yoga You Can Do in Your Room!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

There are many different styles of yoga with accommodations that you can do in your room. I will be sharing two of my favorite types of yoga with you; one is more intense while the other allows you to relax and find your inner zen. Yoga is the perfect way to de-stress from a long day while also getting in a workout without having to leave your room – so if you’re still intrigued by what you’ve already read, you’ve come to the right place!

Vinyasa:

This specific yoga focuses on synchronizing your breath with continuous movement of posture at a faster pace. This not only helps your body mentally, but also physically because of how vigorous Vinyasa can be – thus resulting in burning calories and sweating out toxins. Vinyasa is a great exercise and I would highly suggest this to anyone looking for a more intense workout!

Yin:

This style of yoga is where you’ll find your “zen.” After a long day of classes, unwind in your room by trying Yin! This helps calm and balance your body and mind. Yin yoga poses are usually held for longer periods of time, specifically positions of the lower body which allow you to deepen your stretch of connective tissue and fascia. This is great for anyone who deals with hip or pelvic issues or for anyone who just needs a deeper stretch. Take this time to release any negative energy that has built up throughout your day.

The benefits of what yoga does to your mind and body go far beyond just getting a good stretch in or letting go of negative energy for only 20 minutes. I hope through trying out these different styles of practice it encourages you to try other styles while doing it in the comfort of your own home! Enjoy.
